The Vocal Lab NZ Singing Studio

The Vocal Lab NZ Singing Studio Welcome to the Vocal Lab. Innovative voice lessons in a welcoming, safe and supportive environment.

We work to build on our students confidence, support fuller development of tone, range, presence, performance and total freedom of vocal expression. Here at The Vocal Lab, we are dedicated to empowering our students with effective tools to navigate their voices towards their vocal goals. We base our lessons on the knowledge of anatomy and physiology of the vocal mechanism, as well as current resea

rch in voice science. Our senior teacher Coco has attended and completed both levels one and two of The LoVetri Institute for Somatic Voicework™ certifications. Somatic Voicework™ is the main method that Coco uses in her studio. The results are astonishing and can be applied to all styles of singing. 🎶 Why Singing Makes Us Happier - The Science Behind the Joy 🎶

Ever noticed how belting out your favorite tune instantly lifts your spirits? That’s not just your imagination, science backs it up! When you sing, your brain releases a cocktail of feel-good chemicals like endorphins, dopamine, and oxytocin. These natural mood boosters help reduce stress, ease anxiety, and even strengthen feelings of connection and trust.

Singing also lowers the stress hormone cortisol, helping you feel calmer and more centered. Deep breathing, a natural part of singing; improves oxygen flow and slows your heart rate, much like meditation. And when you sing with others, whether in a choir or a karaoke night, your brain syncs with those around you, creating a sense of unity and belonging that’s been shown to increase happiness and reduce loneliness.

Even if you sing solo, the vibrations of your voice can stimulate your vagus nerve - a key player in regulating mood and emotional well-being. So, each note you sing isn’t just sound, it’s self-care in action!

🎤 Singing truly is one of the most joyful and natural ways to boost your mood and nourish your soul.

✨ Ready to experience the science of happiness firsthand?

Try singing with a voice teacher. They can help you unlock your full potential and make your singing journey even more uplifting and rewarding.

But who is the soul of The Vocal Lab?

Coco Favre is a voice teacher and performer who has been working with singers since 2007. With a background in both singing and dance, she brings a performance-driven, body-aware approach to vocal training. She specializes in helping singers develop a natural, expressive sound in Contemporary Commercial Music (CCM)—especially those transitioning from classical technique or just beginning their vocal journey.

She has completed all three levels of Somatic Voicework™ (The LoVetri Method) and has been integrating its principles into her teaching since 2021. Her focus is on sustainable vocal function that supports stylistic authenticity and confidence—whether on stage, in the studio, or at the audition.
