We have an excellent opportunity for a student-teacher currently enrolled in an Early Childhood Teaching degree or Graduate Diploma.

Join our friendly and supportive team to receive the regular in-centre hours required for your course of study paid, plus plenty of additional hours available on a casual reliever basis. Smiley Faces has a strong track record in supporting student teachers through to registration and beyond.

We are multi-cultural centre with a focus on strong and respectful relationships with tamariki and whāanau, holistic learning, sustainability education, healthy eating habits.

You will have a natural rapport with young children, be a strong team player, be keen to learn more, and be open to receiving coaching and development. You will be committed to developing and using te reo Māori in your everyday practice. You will also be flexible, reliable and trustworthy.

Join in with the fun and hangi at Orongomai Marae, Upper Hutt on Waitangi Day.

ŌRONGOMAI MARAE WAITANGI DAY 2023 ||
We are proud to support Ōrongomai Marae for their Waitangi Day celebration on Monday, 6 February 2023, between 9AM and 2PM.

🎊This annual celebration is to commemorate the Te Tiriti o Waitangi, and the theme this year is "Te Putanga o Te Ao Marama" which means the emergence of the world of light.

🎉 Bring the whānau down to the marae and join the pōwhiri at 9AM. There will be a variety of stalls, local entertainment, games put on by our Activation team and even a hangi.

Everyone is welcome to this community event, and as we come together, it's important to take care of yourself and those around you. Therefore we respectfully ask that anyone showing symptoms of COVID to please stay home and test.

I am sure we have many budding artists among our graduates and 5 year olds:

Calling all young artists! We’ve got a BIG SHOW coming up. 🤩 🎨

The BIG Show is a radically inclusive exhibition which will highlight the creativity of young people in Upper Hutt. All Upper Hutt artists aged 5-18 are eligible to participate and have their work shown in the gallery, so get creative with your drawing, paintings, and sculptures.

So get busy, get creative and get your work in before 12 Feb! All entries will be accepted and every artist receives a BIG Show T-Shirt as well as a ticket for two to the grand opening.

After taking a year off, the Santa Parade is back and better than ever for 2022, with the theme ‘The Magic of Christmas’ 🎅🤶‍🎄

Do you remember Christmas time as a child? The excitement? The anticipation? The Christmas season seems to carry it’s own sense of magic and wonder—and that’s our theme for this year 🎄✨⛄️

There is a $1,000 prize for the float that best reflects ‘The Magic of Christmas’ theme, and a $250 prize for the People’s Choice Award, voted for by the public on our page in the week following the parade.
