Our AIMS Boys Football team had a great challenge against Tawa Intermediate as they continue preparing for AIMS in just 9 days!

📊 Attendance Update – Term 3, Week 5

A big congratulations to Room 6, who achieved an outstanding 100% attendance this week!

Our kura-wide attendance was 90%, which is a positive result and above our 75% goal. Tuesday was our strongest attendance day, while Monday had the lowest attendance.

A reminder to all our whānau that being at kura and arriving on time makes a huge difference to learning. Currently, 15% of our ākonga are arriving after 8:55am, which impacts our overall attendance figures.

Let’s keep working together to get our attendance up and ensure our ākonga are here, on time and ready to learn!

WRISSA FLAG & LEAGUE 🏆

Today our girls flag and boys league travelled to Petone Rec.

Our girls were coached by Benny and managed to go undefeated all day taking out the final! Toa! Winners! Pai tō mahi koutou!

Our boys also made the final! Coached by Mr Coezter! This ended in a draw 4 all! Ka rawe tama ma!

MAD @ NZCIS

Our MAD rōpū had the opportunity to go behind the scenes at the New Zealand Campus of Innovation and Sport (NZCIS) in Upper Hutt. Getting an insider look at this world-class 18-hectare campus revealed exactly what top-tier athletes experience when they lock in for peak performance and recovery.

The visit showcased an impressive lineup of elite recovery facilities:

*Red Light Therapy & Infrared saunas
* Hot & Cold Plunge Pools
* Cryotherapy Chambers
* Dedicated Recovery Room

A central takeaway from the trip was seeing how Malcolm Gillies and the Gillies Group are giving back to the local community. By investing directly in Upper Hutt and developing facilities like NZCIS, they have brought global-standard athletic infrastructure to the region.

A huge mihi to our kura Kapa Haka rōpū for their awesome performance at Upper Hutt Cultural Festival the other day! We’re incredibly proud of the mana, energy and passion they brought to the stage.

Books Alive at Wellington Central Library

Our Academic Leaders had an awesome day at Books Alive at Te Matapihi ki te Ao Nui (Wellington Central Library), celebrating the incredible nominees of the New Zealand Book Awards for Children and Young Adults.

They took part in creative writing with Brian Falkner, live drawing with Jem Yoshioka, and Q&A sessions with a range of talented authors and illustrators. They also grabbed some autographs and selected new books to add to our school library!

A fantastic day celebrating reading, creativity and the people who bring great stories to life.

💃✨ What a day at DanceNZ Made! ✨💃

What an incredible day celebrating dance, creativity and the huge amount of talent across our Year 7 & 8 division! The standard of competition was fierce, with every school bringing something special to the stage — and with more entries than ever before, our ākonga were certainly challenged!

A huge highlight was getting to take part in workshops with industry professionals throughout the day. It was such a valuable opportunity for our dancers to learn, be inspired and experience different styles and approaches from people working in the industry.

And then came the results… 🥁

🔥 Cool Doug — our disco/jazz fusion group — placed an amazing 2nd!
🌿 Hineahuone — our lyrical performance group — placed 4th

Which means… BOTH TEAMS ARE HEADING TO NATIONALS! 🎉🎉

We’ll be back on stage on 19 September to represent our kura at Nationals in Palmerston North, and we couldn’t be more excited!

A massive shout-out also goes to Ruby and Kylah, who also represented our kura in the Duos section the night before. It was so wonderful seeing the talent, creativity and hard work they had put into creating their own performance and then getting to see it come alive on stage. ❤️

Huge congratulations to all of our dancers. The commitment, creativity and energy you brought to the competition was awesome to see. We are so proud of you all! 💃🕺✨

🎉 What an awesome night at our AIMS Fundraiser Disco! 🕺💃

What a way to finish the week! The dance floor was absolutely pumping, the music was rocking, and our students had an absolute blast! 🎶🔥

A huge THANK YOU to everyone who came along, helped out, donated, set up, packed down, and made the night such a success. It was fantastic seeing so many of our whānau and students getting involved and having such a great time together. ❤️

Most importantly, we’re raising money to help get our students to AIMS Games, so every bit of support makes a real difference. 🙌

Big energy, big smiles, plenty of dancing and an awesome school community — what more could you ask for?! 😎🎉
