If you don't yet have the confidence to deliver your pepeha or are looking for an alternative, here is a short and simple but effective way to use your te reo Māori to introduce yourself. It is a great starting point or an easier go-to when you are put on the spot. For example, I would say:
Ko Kaz tōku ingoa. Nō Ingarani me Kōtirana ōku tipuna. Kei to mono au ki Te Awakairangi ki Tai. My name is Kaz. My ancestors are from England and Scotland. I live in Lower Hutt.
I have learned this off by heart and try to practice it whenever I am in a new situation and am asked to introduce myself.
