🎨 Year 9 Painting

Our Year 9 students have been creating paintings based on their own designs while exploring the idea that painting is about layering, experimentation and mark-making.

Students were challenged to create their first layer using a range of mark-making tools — without brushes! Once the first layer was complete, they could choose to introduce brushes and build their paintings further.

A great opportunity for students to experiment, take creative risks and discover new ways to make their artwork come to life. 🖌️✨

Our Year 13 Economics students visited Parliament at the Beehive to hear economists discuss this year’s Government Budget.

Level 2 Biology in the Field 🌿🔬

Our Level 2 Biology students visited Korokoro Dam this week, taking their learning outside the classroom and exploring biology in a real-world environment.

🎓 Congratulations, Arama!

Congratulations to Arama Adair on receiving a University of Waikato Vice-Chancellor’s Scholarship, valued at $30,000, towards his Engineering studies.

Arama was nominated after impressing a Waikato representative at our Subject Selection Day.

A leader within our Kura as Deputy Head Student, Kapa Haka Kaea and Ngā Manu Kōrero speaker, Arama has grown tremendously during his five years in the Boarding School.

He arrived as a quiet young man and has found his confidence, culture and place within our Kura. We are incredibly proud of all he has achieved.

Ka nui te mihi, Arama! 💙👏

📸 Photography at St Patrick’s College

Here’s a sample of work from our Year 12 and 13 Photography students, who have been developing folio projects around their own individual themes, ranging from music and church life to liminal spaces.

Our students have been enjoying developing their technical photography skills and bringing their creative ideas to life using both the school’s DSLR cameras and their own phone cameras.

It’s fantastic to see their creativity, individuality and growing confidence behind the lens! 📷
