We are incredibly grateful to Genesis for supporting the establishment of our new Building and Construction Trade Academy.

Genesis will provide personal protective equipment for our rangatahi.

This generous support will help ensure our students can participate safely and confidently as they gain practical building skills, qualifications and valuable industry experience through real community-based projects.

📣 Week 6 Attendance Update!

A big shout-out to our attendance leaders this week! 👏

🏆 Senior School: Year 10 topped the week with 85% attendance.
🏆 Whānau Classes: Room 9 led the way with an awesome 89.13%, closely followed by Room 10 on 86.26%!

Every day at kura matters. Let’s keep working together to get those numbers climbing and see even more classes hitting that 90%+ mark! 📈💪

📣 WE’RE LOOKING FOR THREE INSPIRING TUTORS!

Tongariro School is launching exciting, hands-on academies for our senior rangatahi in 2027—and we are searching for skilled industry professionals who are ready to pass their knowledge on to the next generation.

🔨 Building and Construction Tutor
Full-time — lead students through the construction of a small house.

🏔️ Māori Tourism Tutor
Two days per week — share tourism knowledge, local stories, tikanga and manaakitanga.

🚜 Agriculture Tutor
One day per week — teach practical farming, animal care and land-based skills.

We are looking for people with strong industry knowledge who can connect with rangatahi, provide practical learning experiences and help students build pathways into further training and employment.

📅 Start date: 27 January 2027
⏰ Applications close: Friday 25 September 2026
