Glamorgan Kindergarten

Glamorgan Kindergarten Glamorgan Kindergarten is in Danbury Drive, Torbay, behind Glamorgan School. Come and visit us, we look forward to meeting you. Nau mai, Haere mai

We provide a welcoming environment, education and care for children aged 3 to 5 years. We believe that parents and whanau are an integral part of the kindergarten’s life and our programme should reflect the rich, diverse background of the community. Our curriculum is based on Te Whāriki, the Early Childhood Curriculum and the Education (Early Childhood Services) Regulations 2008 and reflects our commitment to these documents.

What a fabulous night we had at our Under the Sea Disco on Friday in the Glamorgan School hall! There were amazing costumes and dance moves, laughter, music, and community spirit, it was wonderful to see so many whānau, tamariki, and friends come together for such a special event.

As we are a not-for-profit organization, this was a fundraising event that will help us to update and refresh resources for our tamariki. We are incredibly grateful to everyone who attended, purchased tickets, pizzas, donated, and helped make the evening such a success.

A huge thank you to all of our sponsors for their generous support:
- Hawkins Law
- LA Builders
- Bolton Electrical
- Garden Notes
- Ink By Diels
- Torbay Tennis Club

💙 Giving Back Together 💙

As part of our Matariki celebration, our generous Glamorgan Kindergarten community came together to donate non-perishable food items for our local food pantry.

We know that Matariki is a time of reflection, gratitude, and giving, and we are incredibly proud of the kindness and generosity shown by our whānau. Every contribution will help support individuals and families in our wider community.

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who donated and helped us make a positive difference. Together, we continue to live our values of caring for and supporting one another.

Thank you for helping us spread kindness and care beyond our school gates. ❤️

✨️ Mānawatia a Matariki! ✨️

What a special morning we shared celebrating Matariki with our amazing tamariki and whānau last week.

Our day began with a delicious breakfast, generously sponsored by New World Long Bay (ngā mihi nui, thank you!), bringing everyone together to share kai, connect and celebrate as a community.

Tamariki loved exploring our magical Matariki light room, where curiosity, wonder and imagination shone just as brightly as the stars.

We also filled the kindergarten with beautiful waiata, and it was so special to have our whānau singing alongside us. These shared experiences help nurture a strong sense of belonging and celebrate the rich traditions of Aotearoa.

Thank you to everyone who joined us to make our Matariki celebration so meaningful. 🌟

Our greatest treasure at Glamorgan Kindergarten is our 'Tane's Forest'.
It is more than just a space - it is our taonga. Nestled within our Kindergarten this natural bush area is where exploration, wonder and learning unfold... naturally.
Our tamariki are kaitiaki of this special place, caring for it as they discover its hidden magic. They notice the little things - the hum of insects, the song of the tui calling above, the delicate spiders web with a nice juicy fly trapped in the web..."But where's the spider hiding?" The search starts!
Curiosity leads the way as they gather sticks, turn over rocks and uncover the busy world of creepy crawlies beneath.
In Tane's Forest, learning is alive and meaningful - tamariki are building working theories, confidence, and a deep sense of belonging as they explore, question, and connect with the natural world.
Come and see us at Glamorgan Kindergarten where imagination grows wild and learning takes root.

Julia Clavel from Restore Hibiscus Coast recently visited to engage with our tamariki, sharing her knowledge about predators in our natural environment that pose a significant threat to native bird populations. She highlighted common pests such as rats, stoats, and possums, explaining their impact on bird habitats and ecosystems.

Julia also showed us different types of traps and how they can be used safely to help protect our native birds.

It was an inspiring and educational session for all, helping us grow as kaitiaki of our natural world.

Last week at Kindy we celebrated Te Tiriti o Waitangi by coming together as a group to revisit our Glamorgan Treaty. We had a short discussion about what it means and how we show respect, kindness, and care for one another every day. To finish, our kaiako and tamariki proudly signed our own treaty, showing our shared commitment to our Kindy community. 💛
