To develop and maintain strong relationships within our hapori ako/learning community that supports tamariki having successful early learning experiences. We implement a place-based localised curriculum that ackn

owledges Ngāti Toa Rangatira as mana whenua, and the unique aspects of the Titahi Bay/Porirua community. Te Kaupapa – Our Philosophy
We believe children learn through play and exploration in relationship with others and the environment. We provide a learning environment that is resourced to support and extend children's interest and development. And there’s lots more messy play today! 🤩 Tamariki watched as the materials changed from dry, to liquid, to squishy, bendy and stretchy. So much fun exploring different textures and properties! 💦🙌

Messy play also provides a wonderful opportunity for tamariki to relax, regulate and soothe themselves through sensory exploration. 💛🌿

🇮🇹 Today we had a fun filled Italian Day at kindy to celebrate the culture and heritage of our kaiako Rachel, who is off to visit Italy very soon. We listened to lots of Italian music 🎶 Tamariki enjoyed making their own mini 🍕 pizzas and pasta🍝 for lunch.

It was a day full of fun, laughter, and hands on learning as we celebrated another culture together. ❤️🤍💚

📸 Revisiting Our Learning! 📸

The other day we had so much fun exploring photography with our wooden cameras, pretending to be photographers and capturing the world around us. Today, we revisited that learning by using the iPad to take real photographs! The tamariki were excited to put their ideas into action, thinking carefully about what they wanted to photograph and exploring how technology can help us capture and share our discoveries. A wonderful example of how revisiting experiences can deepen learning and build on children’s growing interests and confidence.

📸 🐤Armed with the wooden cameras we made with Martin the Toymaker, our keen photographers set off to explore the kindergarten with curious eyes. As they searched high and low for interesting things to “capture,” excitement filled the air when the children spotted a bird’s nest tucked safely away. There were squeals of delight as they carefully observed, shared their ideas, and imagined who might live there. On closer inspection, we saw broken shell remained, suggesting baby birds had hatched!! It was a beautiful reminder that slowing down and looking closely helps us notice the wonders of the natural world all around us. Our handmade cameras continue to inspire curiosity, observation, and a love of nature through play.🪺🌳

⛄️ Our tamariki had a wonderful time exploring ‘snow’ ❄️ in the outdoor trough this morning. They investigated its many properties by scooping, squeezing, mixing, and creating, even having a go at making their own snowmen.⛄️ There was so much excitement, laughter, and wonder as they explored together through fun, hands-on sensory play. ❄️
