Kia ora, welcome to our Tirau Playcentre page where we are not just a centre, but a supportive community for parents/caregivers and children from birth to 6 years old.
We are parent run, and are focused on child initiated play in a fun and stimulating environment.
Our sessions run on Tuesdays, Wednesdays from 9.15-12.15pm at 9 Goodwin Street, Tirau (next to the Tirau pool and behind the Tirau Primary School) with plenty of easy parking available.
You are entitled to 3 Playcentre visits before enrolling and it’s all free. We run a range of different activities throughout the week, with a team effort with tidying up at the end of a session. We also love to share baking, a coffee and a good yarn - it takes a village after all.
We hope to meet you soon and please feel free to reach out with any questions.

This is a fixed term position till the 30th of August 2026

The Session Facilitator works alongside our members and Tamariki to guide session activities, facilitate learning using child-led play and positive guidance, support planning and assessment for learning and positively support the Playcentre education programme.

This is a paid position for our sessions on Tuesday, Wednesday & Fridays 9:00am – 12.45pm, 10.5 hours per week

About you:
Do you have Strong knowledge of Te Whāriki, ECE regulations, and a commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi?
A passion for Playcentre philosophy and empowering whānau to feel included and engaged.
Confidence using technology to support learning and administration.
Minimum Course 3 of the Playcentre Education Diploma or equivalent ECE Qualification (L4 or above desired)
Hold a current First Aid Certificate or be prepared to complete this.
NZ residency or a valid NZ work visa.
