✈️ Flyathon Stats! What a Team Effort! ✈️

A huge thank you to everyone who took part in our 36-hour Flyathon last weekend. While the weather had other ideas and kept us from reaching our original goal, we're incredibly proud of what we achieved together!

Our Flyathon by the numbers:
✈️ 15.3 hours flown
🌙 2.8 hours of night flying
🧭 1,019 nautical miles covered
👨‍✈️ 16 pilots involved
👩‍🏫 2 instructors supporting the challenge

From students building experience to licensed pilots enjoying the challenge, it was fantastic to see so many members getting involved. The teamwork, enthusiasm, and willingness to adapt to changing weather made the event a real success.

A special thanks to everyone who flew, instructed, helped on the ground, and came down to support us throughout the event. We couldn't have done it without you!
Despite Mother Nature cutting our adventure short, we still logged some great flying and created plenty of memories.

Who knows... maybe we'll have to give it another go when the weather is on our side! 😉

✈️ The South Canterbury Flyathon has come to an end! ✈️

Despite being disrupted by fog and weather that prevented some night flying, our members still managed to log an impressive 15.3 hours in the air! 🎉

A huge thank you to everyone who participated, supported the event, and helped make the last 36 hours a success. The enthusiasm and commitment shown by our members was outstanding.

While we didn’t quite reach the 20+ hours this year, 15.3 hours is a fantastic effort given the conditions, and something the whole club can be proud of.

Here’s to even bigger and better Flyathons in the future! ✈️☀️

✈️ A Huge Thank You to Air Safaris! ✈️

Today our Term 2 Gateway Aviation students had the fantastic opportunity to visit Air Safaris and get a behind-the-scenes look at their aircraft and operations.

The group enjoyed learning more about how a commercial aviation operation runs, exploring the aircraft, and hearing about the many career pathways available within the industry. Experiences like this are invaluable in helping students connect their training with the real world of aviation.

A huge thank you to the entire Air Safaris team for taking the time to show us around, answer questions, and share your knowledge and passion for aviation. Your support of our Gateway programme is greatly appreciated and has undoubtedly inspired the next generation of aviation professionals.

We look forward to seeing where these students’ aviation journeys take them! 🙌✈️

We had a fantastic time at the Year 11 Careers Expo, chatting with students about the exciting opportunities aviation can offer—whether that’s flying for fun, earning a Private Pilot Licence, or taking the first steps toward a professional aviation career.

It was great to see so much curiosity, enthusiasm, and great questions from the students throughout the day. Who knows… we may have met a few future pilots! 👨‍✈️👩‍✈️

A big thank you to the organisers for having us. If aviation has always been a dream, there’s no better time to take the first step.✈️

Huge congratulations to Katie who passed her Private Pilot Licence today with examiner Andrew Vialoux! 🙌

Katie has put in a huge amount of work throughout her training, much of it in her own aircraft ESK, and today it all paid off with a fantastic result.

Owning and training in your own aircraft is a big commitment, and it’s been awesome to see the dedication and effort Katie has put into reaching this milestone. 👏✈️
