🏃‍♂️💨 Mud, Mud, Glorious Mud! 🏃‍♀️🌧️

What an absolute cracker of a day at the Thames Valley Cross Country! Despite the crazy wind and the rough, muddy track, our Te Puru School spirits weren't dampened one bit — our students went hard and made us endlessly proud! 🌟👏

Every single student embodied our Te Puru School values from start to finish. Their 🩶Tū Kaha🩶 truly shone through as they tackled the tough conditions, and the 💛Whanaungatanga💛 was beautiful to watch as they cheered loudly for every single TPS runner crossing the line! ❤️📣

A huge congratulations to all our runners, especially those who placed in the top 10! 🎉 Special shout-outs go to:

🥈 Esmee Sutcliffe - 2nd place in the 8-Year-Old Girls!
🥇 Julie Gavey – 1st place in the 10-Year-Old Girls!
🥈 Louie Dryden – 2nd place in the 11-Year-Old Boys!
🥉 Charlie Booth – 3rd place in the 11-Year-Old Boys!
🎖️ Lance Hyslop – 4th place in the 11-Year-Old Boys!

👑 Denzal Corry – 1st place in the 12-Year-Old Boys! What an absolute legend, leading by a massive 200m for the ENTIRE race! 🚀💨

Days like today don't happen without an amazing team behind us. A massive thank you to Mrs Attwood for all of her top-notch organising! Huge appreciation also goes to Ruth, Shannon, and Jessie for helping with transport, and to all of our wonderful whānau who braved the weather to support and cheer us on. 🚗👨‍👩‍👧‍👦

The Kahawai team has had a fantastic day out at Hamilton Zoo!

We’ve seen so many amazing animals and had lots of great conversations along the way, sharing what we already knew and learning new things too. From cheetahs and rhinos to the fishing cat, every enclosure was carefully checked out, with plenty of questions, observations and admiration along the way.

One highlight was watching the chimpanzees being fed and seeing the cutest little baby chimp being looked after by the rest of the group. Another was patting the deer. Another was singing to the Siamangs in the hope that they would sing back!
And, of course, the adventure playground was a massive hit too!

Our TPS values have been on show throughout the day — our arohatanga through the respectful listening and great questions during our classroom session with Ken; our tū kaha as we walked and walked and walked (!); and, of course, our kaitiakitanga as we learned about, admired and took a close look at these amazing creatures. We are so proud of our tamariki!

A huge shout-out to all our parents who helped with transport and came along to walk around the zoo with us. We’re really glad you could join us! Ngā mihi nui!

And another big shout-out to the team at Hamilton Zoo. It is such a beautifully cared-for and happy place. Thank you to all the keepers who took the time to chat with us, share their knowledge and answer all our questions.

🩵🏃🏻 Ka pai to all of our tamariki who took part in Inanga’s Cross Country today!
We focussed on our values and were so proud to see our students demonstrating Tū Kaha throughout their races. We loved seeing the children running our beach track with big smiles, giving it their all and proudly showing off how hard they had trained. For some of our tamariki, it was their very first cross country event — what an achievement!

A huge thank you to all of our wonderful helpers from Haku who supported our Inanga students throughout the event. You were outstanding! We also really appreciate our whānau who came along to cheer and support us today.

A very special thank you to Mr Sell for all of the time and effort he put into organising such a fantastic event for our tamariki. We really appreciate you!

Well done, Inanga — you should all be incredibly proud of yourselves. You are amazing! 🩵
