Kainga Aroha Community House was established in 1984 by Bruce & Steph Owen & Dennis Howell. Based at Hall St, Kihikihi they offered a drop in centre for tamariki and rangatahi, holiday programmes and camps, budgeting and family assistance to local whānau/families. Due to increased demand for services, Kainga Aroha (KA) we moved to our current location at 301 Bank St, Te Awamutu in 2007. We have since grown into an organisation that provides:

Family Violence/WSW (Whaanau Support Worker) - Family harm/violence intervention support, support with obtaining protection & parenting orders, formulating safety plans, advocacy & referrals. (Sandra & Maria)

Family Support - Supporting whaanau/families in areas with parenting, advocacy, referrals & dealing with other government agencies. Building Financial Capability - Support in gaining financial capability, advocacy, working with debtors/creditors on your behalf. (Please note we are not Financial Advisors) (Sue)

Provide Supervised Contact - We are an approved Oranga Tamariki supervised contact agency, we are also a handover point for unsupervised visits. - Fees may apply

Children’s Holiday Programme - We run an annual camp during the Christmas school holidays for children aged 7 - 14 years. We are the call centre for foodbank

2020 Whaanau Resilience Kaimahi (Ange Holt) - Preventing Domestic Violence for future generations and assisting with the healing and trauma of those impacted through programmes, advocacy and support.
