Te Awamutu Intermediate School

We had another fantastic opportunity for our music students to SHINE at TAI yesterday, as the host school for the 2026 Waikato Band and Orchestra Festival. We had twelve ensembles on site representing schools from as far as Matamata and Southwell.

TAI entered three groups this year. Our Senor Concert Band, Jazz Band and Junior Concert Band. All three groups represented the school with strong performances that they have been working on for months. We are pleased to state that all three groups were awarded gold in their respective categories by our visiting adjudicators Bob Hollinshead, Assistant Principal and Head of Music from Te Awamutu College, and Delwyn Stanbridge-Allen, Musical Director at St Paul's Collegiate School in Hamilton.

What a fantastic Monday assembly celebrating our incredible students and their hard work! Here is a recap of this week's special moments:

Attendance Shield: A massive congratulations to Room 1 for taking home the shield this week! Keep up the great school routine!

Shine Leaders: Our Shine Leaders took to the stage to introduce themselves and remind everyone of the support, guidance, and positivity they bring to our school community.

Spotlight on Payton: Payton took the stage and confidently presented her pepeha—an awesome display of courage and pride!

WIMS Champions: A huge shoutout to our Year 7 WIMS team! They were officially presented with their certificates for taking out 1st place overall in the competition. Outstanding achievement!

Academic & Principal Awards: We celebrated a room full of effort, with 4 Gold Award recipients alongside a huge group of Silver and Gold badge earners. To top it off, several of our wonderful students were recognised with Principal's Awards for a range of different acheivements.

A huge congratulations to our TAI AIMS Netball team! They took out the A3 grade at the Te Awamutu Netball Centre.

Room 16 won the Term One- 'Show Up and Shine' reward (the class with the highest attendance) receiving a trip to Ninja Valley, which was kindly donated by Ninja Valley.

Our students proudly represented TAI yesterday at the WIMS netball event, with our Year 7 team taking the overall win!

What a fantastic assembly we had this week! A huge congratulations to Room 8 for taking home the Attendance Shield, and a special shout-out to Harper for doing an amazing job presenting his pepeha to the whole school. We had so much achievement to celebrate, including 4 Bronze, 5 Silver, and 1 Gold badge recipient, along with a wonderful group of students who earned Principal's Awards for showing great school values. To top it all off, we recognised our talented rock band members for all their hard work and stellar efforts at Band Quest
