Kia Ora!

Due to multiple tamariki with life threatening anaphylactic reactions we have kai restrictions in our Playcentre. This helps us to keep our centre safe for all tamariki.

We also discourage the sharing of kai between lunchboxes due to this and hygiene reasons. Ngā mihi, we hope to see you visit us soon!

Remember how we were going on an excursion last week..

🌿 Learning Through Play 🌿

What is happening here?
These tamariki are enjoying an excursion to our local Memorial Park. Walking hand in hand, they are exploring the natural environment, looking for ducks, collecting fallen leaves, discovering the changing seasons, and enjoying time together on the playground.

What is being learnt?
Through this excursion, they are developing confidence, curiosity, communication skills, and an appreciation for the natural world. Walking together encourages teamwork, friendships, and road safety awareness, while exploring the park supports gross motor development and a sense of belonging within their local community.

Love exploring with your little one?
Join us in Term 3 (from Monday 20th July). If you cant wait until then come along to our pop up Playcafe on Tuesday 14th July 9.30-11.30am.
We would love to explore, play, and learn with you!

Why choose Playcentre?

“Whānau tupu ngātahi – families growing together.”

Playcentre is a unique early childhood environment where caregivers learn and play alongside their tamariki, supporting their growth through hands-on, child-led learning.

Caregivers are not just participants.. they are active learners, supported by amazing session facilitators and centre advisors who provide guidance, encouragement, and care. These dedicated people are the supportive “glue” of Playcentre, helping to create a safe and welcoming environment for both children and adults.

At Playcentre, learning is shared, relationships are valued, and whānau are empowered to be part of their child’s early education journey in a meaningful way.

Te Awamutu Playcentre recently had a trip to Hamilton Zoo. What a beautiful day with lots of animals spotted! This encouraged discussions about what the animals looked like, what they ate, and what their home environments were like.

The tamariki enjoyed walking around, exploring, and interacting with their peers and adults throughout the morning.

Experiences like this help to build curiosity, language skills, social confidence, and an understanding of the world around them. To make the morning even more exciting was the various playground stops along the way!
