OTOROHANGA! 👋

Exciting news, Impact Tutoring is coming to you!

Our Te Awamutu hub has been at capacity for a while, and we know so many of you have been travelling in for tutoring. So it's time we came to you instead. A brand new Otorohanga hub is officially in the works.

Two things we need your help with:

📍 Know a fabulous space in Otorohanga that could become our new hub? We'd love a nudge in the right direction.

👩‍🏫 We're looking for tutors, across the board. Junior and senior, literacy and numeracy, and senior subject specialists. If you love helping students thrive (or know someone who does), we want to hear from you.

This is just the beginning. Register your interest below and be part of it from day one.

Sometimes the most important part of a lesson isn't the answer, it's someone sitting beside you while you work it out. This is what tutoring looks like at Te Awamutu.

✨STUDENT OF THE MONTH CELEBRATION✨

Let's hear it for the amazing Zara Dickinson, our well-deserved Student of the Month!

Zara has been absolutely crushing her goals, and her fabulous tutor, Varinia, couldn't wait to share just how proud she is of her incredible hard work.

Here is what Varinia had to say about our superstar:

"I am so glad Zara is Student of the Month, she truly deserves it! She has always been a great student, but at the end of July I started to notice an improvement that went beyond good. Since starting the Momentum Learning programme, that continued momentum has had an amazing impact on her achievements throughout Term 3. I've been highlighting every bit of progress she's shown because it has honestly been exceptional. She's on track to finish Level 3 this term, something she is really looking forward to.

Since she started with us, Zara has developed a better self-image, with a lot of positive thinking, enthusiasm, and motivation to master the skills we've been practising. Her go-to phrase this term has been "let's do this", and her growth in self-confidence has been wonderful to see. She's consolidated all the rewards of that can-do attitude: she finished Term 2 on skill 15 and is now on skill 23, averaging about one skill a week, holidays included. That's a fantastic result!

You amaze us Zara!

Tutoring isn't just for catching up. It's also for kids who've already caught up and have nowhere left to go

A lot of parents only think about tutoring when their child is falling behind. But we get just as many families coming to us for the opposite reason: their child is ahead of the curriculum, finishing work early, and starting to switch off because school isn't stretching them. That's what our extension tutoring is for. Same expert support, different goal: depth instead of catch-up.

Message us to ask if extension is a fit for your child's next session.

From essay dread to essay ready 📝

Nate's a Year 11 student in Wanaka, learning online with Aimee at our Te Awamutu Hub. His school even set him up with a study period space just so he could get this extra help, that's how much everyone wanted this to work.

A few weeks ago, Nate missed getting a result on his last essay. It knocked his confidence.

Three lessons in, here's what he had to say:

"I'm prepared and feel like I'm gonna do better for the essay next week, more than I've ever felt for an essay. I feel more confident."

This is what it's about: a kid who wanted the help, a parent who found it, a school that made room for it, and a tutor who showed up. All working together for one Year 11 Student.

Nice work, Nate. And nice work, Aimee 👏

It's Week 1 of Term 3 and something I've noticed in my few years here is that students come back from the July break at very different points.

Some arrive energised — they had a proper rest and they're ready. Others come in quietly anxious, already aware that this term carries weight and they can feel the gap.

For senior students, Term 3 is where internals peak. Most schools run their biggest assessments in August, with the CAA Literacy and Numeracy window following in September.

For junior students, this is the term where habits either solidify or don't. The foundations built in Year 9 and 10 are what Year 11 runs on.

Wherever your child is starting this term — there's a plan that works for them.
