So. I was standing on the beach this morning watching the light show as it moved down the coast to Whakatane and beyond. It has been a wicked morning. If i was still a teacher id be doing off the cuff lessons today. Weather systems. Current dangers to our environment. Poetry. Recount writing. Science explainers. Even start collecting data about the weird high temps. Sadly The way the curriculum is heading there is no room for spontaneous teaching moments. Oh. Just to make all the pearl clutches clutch id start an exploration of the myths and legends surrounding thunder and lightning. Including our mighty Māori gods And id make sure we watched the Thor movies. Just because. ♥️. This would be so much better than making kids write about their holidays. As so many feel they haven't got anything to share. And this would end up being a fully fleshed out cross curricula long term topic. I love it when our local and beyond environments gift the lessons.
