We are so grateful and proud to have such a passionate team of Educators and Visiting Teachers working for us here at Edubase - this passion opens up wonderful opportunities for our tamariki like the Wild Things team have done in Ōtepoti for te wiki o te reo Māori. We can just imagine the sense of pride these tamariki must have felt!

Our wonderful Educators and Visiting Teachers across the motu have been busy celebrating te wiki o te reo Māori this week. The beautiful art, activities and provocations here are supported by conversations with ngā tamariki using te reo Māori. We love seeing the different ways in which our Educators use experiences to build on children's learning within their programmes at Edubase! ̄ori

A great way to challenge yourself and grow your te reo Māori skills (and confidence!) is to change one small routine, then once you're in the habit of doing that in te reo Māori, add another one in. Simple greetings like this are the perfect way to start!

Using te reo Māori with ngā tamariki is a priority everyday for us here at Edubase - we'd love to share some simple phrases with you during te wiki o te reo Māori! Give these a go with your own tamariki (children), whānau (family) or friends.

Our Ōtautahi Christchurch team spent the morning at the local wetlands this morning on a nature scavenger hunt - and it was a stunning morning for it! Finished off with play in the wonderful play area the local council has created with tunnels and some quite hardy but spongy gorse to explore. It was wonderful to see lots of excited and curious tamariki investigating our community together!

Those long weekend feels! How will you spend yours?

Our Waikato team ventured out wrapped warmly to head to one of our Educator's whare who lives out on a lifestyle block recently. Even though it was foggy it didn’t stop them patting the animals and riding down the hill in the mud! Nature provides us with so many opportunities to develop all sorts of amazing skills.

from our Auckland team!

The Auckland North Shore group had a great morning at Normanton Park riding their bikes, scooters, ride on toys or pushing their dolls prams around the paths for Road Safety Week. We learnt about aspects of road safety including crossing roads safely, Stop and go signs and traffic lights. We were able to obtain some great resources from Brake- the road safety charity, for Educators and tamariki to use at home to support this learning. This has continued at playgroup this week with our music session focusing on transport related songs and action songs and rides on toys around road cones.
