A very special farewell… ❤️

After 43 years in Early Childhood and 22 years ownership of the beautiful, boutique, Treehouse, I have made the decision to sell The Treehouse and retire from early childhood.

It is difficult to put into words what this journey has meant to me. The Treehouse has never simply been a career, it has been a privilege, a passion and a very large part of who I am.

For 22 years I have enjoyed the extraordinary joy of watching little people grow, discover, wonder, create, laugh, question and find their place in the world. I have enjoyed friendships with families and the privilege of being invited into family life.

I would love to invite you to join me for a special morning tea Friday October 16th at 10.30am to celebrate.

Throughout the year, The Treehouse has had some rather noisy visitors outside our gate, with roadworks taking place right on our doorstep! 🚚🦺

The children have thoroughly enjoyed making regular trips to the gate to watch the diggers, trucks and workers as they go about their work. What they have observed has naturally found its way into their own play, as they recreate and explore these experiences in their own way.

We’ve seen sand being scooped into trucks and unloaded, holes being dug and pipes being laid, and even the important role of a “stop/go” worker! 🚦 The children have embraced these real world experiences and incorporated them into their play in so many creative ways.

At The Treehouse, we love providing opportunities for children to recreate and make sense of the real world through their play. We value a slow pedagogy, where children have the uninterrupted time, space and freedom to explore their interests, revisit experiences and develop their ideas through play. 🌿

It’s amazing to see how something as simple as watching a truck outside our gate can inspire so much learning, imagination and connection within children’s play. 💚

The Treehouse Father’s Day Breakfast 💙🏠

We love to celebrate family at The Treehouse! What a fabulous way to acknowledge Father’s Day with a Father’s breakfast. We had Mr Clout cooking breakfast sausages and bacon on the BBQ. We also had fresh bread rolls, muesli with yoghurt and peaches and lovely hot steamy coffee....What a sumptuous feast!
After breakfast we all came inside…..we sang our Mōrena song, Kathryn brought her special yellow box and sang two little dickie birds, recited our wonderful dad’s poem… The children delighted in seeing their very special dad in their place of work and play...then they gave their dad a little parcel with little goodies and a beautifully decorated bag made by the children themselves!

Daffodil Day 2026 🌼💛
The Treehouse Kaiako today wore daffodils and all things yellow in honour of those who have bravely battled with Cancer. The children also created their own beautiful daffodils which were proudly displayed on our whiteboard.

“Like a little daffodil, may we always bring a little sunshine, hope and kindness; wherever we bloom!” 🌼

We are done and dusted with Term Two!!

Manaakitia a Mātariki — kai aroha… hakari kai ⭐️

Mātariki is a festival that is unique to New Zealand, it is another way we can acknowledge our bi-cultural heritage. Cultures all over the world celebrate a ‘New Year’ of some kind and Mātariki is an acknowledged celebration in New Zealand. 🇳🇿

We thought it would be wonderful to plan a “Mātariki Feast”, inspired by the book “Daniel’s Mātariki Feast”.

Mātariki is a time to come together, reflect, and give thanks for the new year ahead. Sharing food is one way we show manaakitanga - care, hospitality, and respect for one another as a small community.

We love providing links between family and The Treehouse. Food is a principle of pleasure, hospitality and conviviality. Food connects people, places, events, celebrations and time. When we honour beautiful events with children, we give them an irresistible invitation to participate in something meaningful and to engage and connect with one another.

And the Kaiako got to wear some wonderful matchy Mātariki t-shirts!!! 👕 🌟

The Treehouse Private Kindergarten and Nursery is a beautiful curated environment, created to nurture and nourish our learners, from one year to five. 👶🏼👧🏼👦🏼

We currently have spaces available and for our existing families we are offering a special incentive: introduce a new family (with a minimum attendance of 2 days) and when they start, receive one free day per week for six weeks!

This morning we had a special Mother’s Day morning tea to celebrate and honour the wonderful mums at The Treehouse. 💐

The children were so excited to welcome their mums for a little play and a special mat time where Kathryn read a lovely story all about our hearts being connected by a string 🧶 . Afterwards we enjoyed tea, coffee, and Shortbread and jam heart shaped biscuits… yummo!

Each child proudly gifted their mum a handmade crafted heart and bookmark to say thank you for all the love and care they give every day.

Happy Mother’s Day to all our amazing Mums - we hope you have a wonderfully special weekend with your little ones 🤍💞
