What a wonderful assembly today!
Well done to our MC’s Tate and Lillie.
We enjoyed hearing all about flight from Room 17 - you really have been growing your learning and shared your knowledge so confidently.
We couldn’t help but tap along to the beat of Room 15’s drumming!
We also celebrated our Soaring High Awards from each of our teams, recognising the great things our learners are doing across the school.
We were treated to Noah’s incredible speech, “Why Words Matter.” An inspiring message, shared beautifully and with such confidence. Well done, Noah.
We wish all our SRP whānau a safe and happy holiday. Enjoy the break and we’ll see you all on Monday October 12, ready for Term 4!

Lily has remembered that hats are a must in term 4 and has popped in to sort a new one today. A reminder to have a hat hunt in the break to ensure you're ready to be sun smart on day one of the new term!

Welcome Bay Community Centre Food Drive: Last day tomorrow!
Thanks to those who have donated thus far!
We are supporting Welcome Bay Community Centre (WBCC) with a food drive. The WBCC currently supports more than 50 local families each week who are experiencing food insecurity. They would be grateful for donations of non perishable food items such as tinned goods, pasta, rice, cereals, long life milk and other pantry essentials. We have a box set up in the office for donations to be left. Thank you for your support.

A big day for our school whānau today as we farewelled Tamara the Tooth Fairy, aka our beautiful Di. Di Tomich has been part of the Selwyn Ridge family for more than 30 years..since before our school even opened! She volunteered to help set things up and was covering school journals in an office at the Welcome Bay Shops way back in 1996. Since then she's continued to contribute hugely to our place in a number of roles; as parent to foundation pupil Paul and later Nicole, in the book room and office and library and as a friend and support to so many. We will sorely miss her gentle nature and uplifting presence and wish her all the best for a fabulous retirement. Her rescue dog Rosie is going to be so happy to have her at home!

Book character dress up day - Tomorrow!

Our annual Book Character Dress-Up Day is tomorrow. This is always a highlight of the school year, a fun, creative celebration of books, reading, and our amazing librarian, Diana Tomich who is retiring at the end of the term.
Tamariki are invited to come to school dressed as their favourite book character for the day. No need to buy anything new, we strongly encourage keeping costumes simple by using items you already have at home. Most importantly, have fun with it!

Kei te tino whakahihi mātou ki tō mātou kapa haka i whakaatu nei i ā rātou mahi ki te rā whakangahau i tēnei rā. I tino koea rātou, a, i whakaatu hoki i te tikanga o te rere runga rawa. He mihi whakahirahira ki a Whaea Leah mō ana mahi katoa ki te kapa haka o tō mātou kura. Tau kē tēnei a rare ki te whakamutunga o Te Wiki o te Reo Māori!
We are so proud of our kapa haka who performed at rawhakangahau today. They were amazing and showed what it means to soar high. Special thanks to whaea Leah for all the mahi with kapa haka in our kura. What an awesome way to end te wiki o t reo māori.
