‘Ngā uri o Hei’ – The descendants of Hei
This powerful piece tells a story of whakapapa, whenua, and identity 🌿
Created by students Marcus, Riley and Zayden, who have dedicated many lunchtimes to bringing this artwork to life—working together, building skills, and showing incredible pride in their mahi 👏
Their design reflects the story of Hei and Tia arriving on the shores of Maketū, with Hei’s outstretched arms protecting the land where their kura now stands
With the awa Raparapa-ā-Hoe and Kaituna, the maunga Ōtawa and Rangiuru, and the guiding stars of Matariki above, this piece is rich in meaning and connection ✨
Any funds awarded will go towards new supplies for their lunchtime art club, supporting creativity for future students 🎨
Proudly sponsored by Dobsons Refrigeration & Electrical 👏
Make sure you add this one to your must-see list—it’s a real standout with a story behind every detail 💛
