Tom E. Moffatt writes humorous action-adventure stories for children. After his first book won two national book awards he has gone on to write and self-publish fifteen more books, including collections of short stories and thousands of original jokes, In this session Tom E. will guide us through the process of how to incorporate humour into an action-adventure plot.

Behind the Canvas
Tuesday 24 February 2026, from 5:30–7:30pm, this evening event will feature three local artists - Millie Pidwell, Shona Mackenzie and Darcell Apelu as they share their personal journeys through artistic practice, career-building, and creative life in the Bay.
Guests will hear directly from each artist about the paths they’ve taken, the challenges they’ve navigated, and the work that continues to inspire them. Alongside the talks, a mini exhibition curated by Creative Bay of Plenty will showcase artworks by the featured artists, with pieces available for purchase on the night.
