This morning our newest learners from Waikohua came and shared their writing with us! What superstar writers - capital letters, finger spaces, full stops and correct spelling! Amazing for these learners who have just started school ✨⭐️✨

Yesterday, a group of our Year 8 students visited the Tauranga Art Gallery and Tauranga Library as part of their Art Extension Project.

At the gallery, students explored the work of local ceramic artist Jaime Jenkins (amazing exhibition - go check it out!) and created their own clay tiles. At the library, they took part in the Te Papa o Ngā Waka programme, learning about the stories, symbolism, and values connected to waka.

Both experiences will help inspire a collaborative ceramic artwork that students will create back at school as a lasting legacy piece for future students and whānau to enjoy.

A big thank you to the teams at TOI Art Gallery and Te Ao Mārama - Tauranga City Libraries for supporting this learning opportunity.

Tauriko Business Link - June 2026 Event - Meet, Greet and Connect as a local business community 12/06/2026

One of our Taumata School parents is hosting this month’s Tauriko Business Link networking event at Pickleball Park, with proceeds from the event being donated to our Whānau Rōpū.

If you’re a business owner, manager, or know someone who is, this is a great opportunity to connect with other local businesses while supporting our school community.

🏓 Watch a Pickleball demonstration or jump on the court and give it a go.
🥂 Enjoy refreshments and delicious canapés from Lemongrass Caterers.
🤝 Meet and network with other businesses from across Tauriko, Pyes Pā, and the Lower Kaimais.

We’re incredibly grateful for local businesses and whānau who give back to our school in this way.

If this sounds like something you’d enjoy, we’d love for you to support the event and help raise funds for our Whānau Rōpū.

For tickets and event details, see the link in the comments.

Please note: This is the same day as our Learning Conferences FYI if you have a conference booked in.

🧵✨ Creativity, Innovation, and Incredible Mahi in Technology! ✨🧵

Our Year 8 learners have been showcasing their creativity and design skills in Soft Materials Technology this term, and the results have been nothing short of amazing!

Working alongside the talented Whaea Sandi, students have been exploring the world of fabrics - learning about the different properties of materials and determining whether they are fit for purpose. Using this knowledge, they stepped into the role of fashion designers, carefully planning, designing, and creating their very own hoodies.

But the creativity didn't stop there! 🎨👕

Students also designed unique graphics on their iPads before bringing their ideas to life through screen printing, adding a personal touch to their finished garments. From bold designs to intricate details, every hoodie tells a story and reflects the individuality of its creator.

We are incredibly proud of the perseverance, problem-solving, creativity, and craftsmanship our learners have demonstrated throughout this project. The finished products are a testament to the hard work, skill, and dedication they have shown every step of the way.

A huge thank you to Whaea Sandi for inspiring our learners and helping them develop such valuable design and technology skills.

👏 Ka mau te wehi, Year 8! We can't wait to see what you create next!
