We had the great privilege of welcoming Sarah Corban (nee Mazengarb, Class of 1999) as speaker for this year’s Founder’s Day as we celebrated 38 years of God’s faithfulness at Bethlehem College.

Board Rep Jaiden Murray organised a tour visiting Sarah’s past teachers and colleagues of Sarah’s mum Louise (or Mrs Mazengarb, former BC HOD History), as they noted changes to campus over the past 25+ years.

A memorable moment was in the chapel where they read the dedication plaque under the stained glass window that Sarah and her friend had fundraised for using mum’s baking of fudge and coconut ice.

Sarah shared with students in both Primary and Secondary about her adventurous life, which has included alpine climbing with ice picks and competitive free diving. After graduating from Massey, she worked with animals in Africa, Singapore and NZ (where she is still a practicing vet alongside pastoring with husband Graham and homeschooling two of their three children). But the accomplishment she’s most proud of is her family.

‘To fall in love with God is the greatest romance; to seek him the greatest adventure; to find him the greatest human achievement’. ~St Augustine (354-430 AD)

Acting Principal Mr Duffett closed by reminding students and staff that this day is not only about remembrance, but looking ahead to what our legacy will be to future generations through the everyday choices that we make.

‘To God be the glory’ (Galatians 1:5).

Island Time

We warmly welcome back our island teams returning tomorrow from the Solomon Islands and Fiji.

Bethlehem College has sent out teams from its early days across the Pacific to serve and minister to the islands - an opportunity for heart knowledge to grow alongside classroom education and experience what servant leadership looks like in other cultures.

Thank you to the families who released dads, mums, sons and daughters to be part of this special outreach providing practical labour and items, sharing testimonies and experiencing the joy and peace of letting go and letting God work in and through them.

‘Give glory to the Lord and proclaim His praise in the islands’ (Isaiah 42:12).

Enjoy your last 3 days of the holidays!
