Sophia McEwing is a driven student who has successfully completed her NCEA level 1 and 2 with EmployNZ. Her journey started in Careers Unlimited NCEA Level 1 course, which paved her way to finding her niche in Hospitality Skills NCEA level 2.

Reflecting on her experience, Sophia expresses a deep appreciation of the services she had access to with EmployNZ. “The tutors supported me and I had practical experience. I had wrap-around support from my tutors, the youth coaches, Pathway Coordinator and Recruitment Coordinator.”

When asked about her aspirations for the future, Sophia shares, “This course has inspired me to start my own business and to travel and be my own boss. To do this I’ll be working for a year to save up costs.”

Sophia’s advice to someone who is thinking about doing this course is “Just do it! It’s a life-long skill you can take anywhere and there are so many opportunities that you wouldn’t know about unless you take the leap.”
