Today at hui time we explored our worm farm and linked our learning to Tupuānuku, the Matariki star connected to food grown from the land and the living creatures that help it thrive.
Together, we learnt about how to care for our worms, what foods they love to eat, and what foods we need to keep out of the worm farm.
Thank you to the whānau who have already contributed food scraps. Our worms are always happy to receive fruit and vegetable scraps to help keep them healthy and thriving!
What a wonderful way to connect Matariki, sustainability, and caring for our environment. 🌿♻️✨

Today we were very lucky to welcome Millie’s dad Nick and their beautiful dog Kora to kindergarten to share about their important mahi with Search and Rescue.
This was a wonderful opportunity for tamariki to learn more about an important job that helps keep people safe in our community 🐾🚁.
A very special thank you to Nick, Kora, and Millie for sharing this special experience with us today. We loved having you visit! 💛

Today we explored Anzac Day by talking about people working together to help others.
Kobe shared about his dad being in the army and showed his medals, and Lemmy brought in a photo of her great great granddad. We then created our own poppies and medals to show our respects here at kindergarten.
Just a friendly reminder we will be closed on Monday in observance of Anzac Day. Have a lovely long weekend. 🇳🇿🎖️

Dramatic play is a wonderful way for tamariki to explore their creativity and express their imagination here at kindergarten. Even some of the kaiako love getting involved too… 🤭
Check out some of these photos of our Welcome Bay Kindergarten Clinic, which opened yesterday. Doctor Sam will be sending out invoices shortly 🩺🩻👨⚕️

Kia ora whānau, welcome back to a brand new year! It’s been so nice to see you all and hear about all the amazing adventures you got up to over the holidays.
Over the past couple of weeks we have been settling back in and exploring our environment. We have been picking fruit and taste testing, making a scarecrow for the garden to help protect our vegetables, and creating lots of wonderful constructions in the sandpit. Some of you may have even seen the giant animal trap the tamariki made to solve a mystery about animals visiting the kindergarten at night. Luckily, it only turned out to be our native birds!
Here’s to another year filled with manaakitanga, whakawhanaungatanga and kaitiakitanga!
