Top School Competition - Bay of Plenty

Looking forward to starting Top School 2026 with our Year 7/8 schools tomorrow.

Thank you to all our Year 7/8 & 5/6 teams (and managers) who made both days so enjoyable. Well Done to Mount Intermediate for taking out the Year 7/8 Top School Award on Thursday, and to Selwyn Ridge for being the Year 5/6 Top School on the Friday. For all other teams...better luck next year!

Thursday 29th Feb & Friday 1st March 10am-2pm

From 2024 Omokoroa No1 School is the new host of the 'Top Schools' event. This event will be run over two days on the 29 February and 1st March at Omokoroa No.1 School.

This is an event that has been running across Tauranga for 18 years. Up to 24 schools can enter. The concept is based on the old NZ Top Town TV series. Teams complete 8 teamwork and problem solving activities throughout the day. All teams trying to win the Top Schools Trophy. Activities take place over 2 days.

PRIZES – TOP SCHOOL

1st prize - Top School Trophy and $250 for school
2nd prize - $150.00
3rd prize - $100.00

Schools can enter 1 team in each of the categories - Year 5/6 and Year 7/8.

Teams are made up of 12 pupils enrolled at the team’s school – 6 boys and 6 girls. Each Activity involves only 10 competitors (5 girls and 5 boys).

All activities run for 10 minutes, started and ended by a ho**er. All events run simultaneously. Three teams will compete at each event at one time.

This is not a win/lose/draw competition. It is the most points/highest score you can record at each event. You are competing against the event. When the last round is finished all 24 teams are ranked 1-24 for each event. The team with the lowest accumulated ranking will win.
