This week in the Wee Sprouts we have been all about repeating AB patterns. We’ve continued patterns, created our own and fixed up mistakes in patterns. We even made musical patterns with our bodies. Today we experimented with non-linear patterns - ones that don’t go in straight lines.

Nothing beats fish and chips on a cold winter's day! Today our International Students came together to enjoy one of NZ's most iconic meals: Fish'nChips. Our principal, Ms Billington, taught them how to make a 'chip buttie', and it was all washed down with L&P! Choice!

SH29 Tauriko Enabling Works – upcoming night works for SH29 traffic switch

Downer, contracted by NZ Transport Agency Waka Kotahi, will soon shift Hamilton-bound traffic onto new lanes on SH29 between the SH29/SH36 roundabout and the SH29/Cambridge Road intersection.

Tauranga‑bound traffic will remain on the existing road with pavement construction starting down the centre of the state highway, as part of 4-laning this section of SH29.

At the same time, the team will also work to reduce a section of the traffic island on the downhill section leading to the SH29/SH36 roundabout to allow for upcoming drainage works adjacent to the Tauranga-bound SH29 lane. This will require a lane deviation on SH29 and reduced speed limit of 30km/h. All lanes will be reopened during the day.

What to expect
Night works (6pm to 6am) are planned from Sunday 9 August for three nights and will include a 3‑way stop/go operation on SH29 and Cambridge Road, with a reduced speed limit of 30km/h on approach to the work area. This is so crews can safely install temporary barriers and complete line marking.

From 6am Monday 10 August, traffic lanes will be shifted into their new positions using barriers and cones. Additional barriers will be installed over the following nights and will remain in place for approximately 6 weeks.

All traffic movements through the SH29/Cambridge Road intersection will be maintained throughout the works.
Noise and vibration are expected due to the use of heavy machinery. Our team will work to minimise disruption wherever possible.

Some of these construction activities are weather dependent and if delayed by weather or unforeseen circumstances, will be carried out on the next suitable shift.
Temporary traffic management will remain in place to ensure the safety of road users, the community, and our team. If you are travelling through the area, please take care, allow extra time and follow all temporary signage.
