All 3 robots have passed inspection and are ready for games to begin.

Today we had our last practice VEX IQ robotics scrimmage before the Steam-Ed Charitable Trust teams head off to Nationals in Palmerston North next weekend.

Sadly the teams from Otumoetai Intermediate won't be able to travel down there this year, but we hope they can join us in 2025.

It was great to see the improvement in most of the robot designs throughout the last 5 months, with some still making last minute tweaks today.

Best of luck to all the STEAM-ED teams at Nationals! We have two teams competing in the Middle School division and the teams in the Elementary School division.

It is the end of an era for our STEAM-ED Robotics team as these two wonderful young men, Sam Orsler and Ryan Kayser, move on to new ventures. Over the past 4 years they have been incredibly successful, when alongside Luca Ririnui, they won the most prestigious 'Excellence Award' as well as the Robot Skills Award each year until 2023. They have represented NZ at the World Championships 3 times, including once in an online remote event when travel wasn't possible due to covid restrictions.

They have been terrific mentors for youngsters attending our robotics programmes, always willing to share their knowledge with a smile and bucket loads of enthusiasm!

Sam is off to University of Canterbury to start his tertiary education in Engineering, while Ryan pursues his flying ambitions and concentrates on Yr13 and work commitments. We are confident they will be back to see us and hope they will continue to be keen to mentor in the little bit of spare time they will have.

On behalf of the whole of STEAM-ED, Thank you Sam and Ryan for doing so much to make our robotics programme a success! We will miss you a lot.

Today we hosted the first of our regional VEX IQ Full Volume scrimmages. It was great to have the Te Kura Kaupapa Maori o Kawakawa Mai Tawhiti all the way from Hicks Bay who brought 2 robots and borrowed 1.
Top score of the day was 69.
