Today we measured our sunflowers for the end of The Sunflower Project, but we continue to enjoy them.... will they grow taller than our fence? How many bumble bees will we see today? We look forward to joining next year. Thankyou King Kings Seeds and Daltons Sunflowers in Kindergartens

We have enjoyed being part of the sunflower project, checking our flowers, watching them grow, giving them some of our worm tea, and often spying a visiting bumble bee! The experience creating conversations about our natural world, and opportunities for children to come together with others, growing tuakana-teina relationships as we welcome and encourage younger friends to join these smaller groups and explore our garden space.

It wasn't long and the sunflowers went pop, out they came...
We watered them, checking them each day.
Then they were ready to plant out in our garden.
If it's Skyscraper Sunflower, we wonder how high they might grow?
Let's get out our measuring tape and see.
When you come in our gate have a look and see if you can spot them. Thank you to Daltons Sunflowers in Kindergartens and Kings seeds, a project for us to get involved, and practice being Kaitiaki of our place while learning about nurturing plants.

The applications are in, and now it's up to the community to help decide how the School Sustainability and Resilience Fund is shared out! 🌟

Trident High School made the cut last year. Emily Dippie and her teacher Dave Dobbin were able to set up a hydroponics system for their horticulture garden with the help of the fund. 🌿

This year’s fund has up to $85,000 for distribution to environmental sustainability and climate change-preparation projects at schools and early childhood education centres, following a $50,000 boost to the fund from TECT, BayTrust and Trust Horizon.
