What a glorious day to be in the garden! With recent interest in our bees, we decided we needed to go shopping to buy some flower seedlings and help them out during the winter months. These super budgeters bought 66 plants for less than $50. Awesome financial literacy and planting skills today!

Megan from Tauranga City Council visited today. We learnt all about where our drinking water comes from here in Tauranga. It is so precious that she gave us each a timer to make sure our showers don’t take too much water. We also had fun taking apart the taps to check where the washers hide!

Inquiry or project based learning is a big part of our day. Following the child’s interest in collaborative groups allows them to explore topics of their choice. This time rooster fish and turtles were presented to us. We love the creativity that is put into sharing their knowledge. This time bread roll with turtle markings glazed with a green vanilla glaze completed the presentation. A lovely cosmic education link to maths, collaboration, problem solving, and cooking as well as a delicious end to the day.

Art with Angie. These super lucky seniors have made their own miniature art gallery feature original works in a variety of media. The flexible walls allow it to fit in a variety of formations. Thank you Angie for sharing your expertise with us! It is always a joy to have you in our classroom

A big bunch of birthday wishes have been celebrated in May. The seniors have really been pushing their comfort zone and cooking with very minimal adult help showing just how capable they are! Tastes were delicious even if the presentation was a little different. Awesome problem solving and clean up!

What fun we have had this week. April birthdays provided learning in the kitchen as well as yummy cakes to share, adding fractions with our Montessori materials, exploring parallel lines in polygons and seeing the relationships to even numbers, building the decanomial and making the connections to times tables, and just reconnecting with our friends after the holidays!
