Recently, we were very blessed to have special visitors from the BC Secondary School Art Department who came to complete their service component with us by teaching a creative arts process of relief print making.
Using the primary colours of red, yellow and blue, we discovered how secondary colours like orange, purple and green are made.
Using Christmas-themed shapes and ink rollers, tamariki created bright, colourful prints.
By listening to instructions, observing the older ākonga and trying a new creative process, children stayed focused, engaged and confident. The secondary students supported the tamariki beautifully, creating a warm example of tuakana–teina in action.
A big thank you to Mr Morgan and the students for sharing their skills with us.

Dear BCK whānau,
Please contribute to our Christmas recipe book for 2023. Today we had Chinese families making Christmas steamed buns with tamariki. Three colors of dough brought so much toi (creativity) and whakawhetai (joy).
Some of them made their special person for Christmas season, some made nativity( baby Jesus, the tomb…), some made animals(God’s creations).
Above all, we celebrating this season with joy as baby Jesus, the king of kings arrived this earth for us❤️
Really appreciate the Aroha atu, aroha mai (love received, love given) by our whānau and community.
If you want to contribute to the recipe book, please contact a kaiako(teacher) with a recipe and list of ingredients.
Aroha nui,
BCK team

Team work makes the dream work! We worked together scrubbing all chairs in the morning. So we had a picnic underneath the cherry tree as a reward. What a blessing to have Bethlehem Collge families at the campus letting us visit their property! ❤️ LOVE our community
