Ngārara Āhuahanga - Minster Glyphs
As a part of our Tōku Tūrangawaewae / Ko Ahau kaupapa, our Tau 2-3 made Ngārara Āhuahanga. Each part of their ngārara tells a little bit about each tamaiti.
Tamariki worked on these with the me in rōpū while the rest played with ngā āhuahanga autō (magnetic shapes), ngā poraka (blocks) and kēmu wharewhare āhuahanga (shape bingo) 🤩 We also integrated with a tuhituhi session where tamariki wrote 'Ko ... ahau.' which was a great opportunity to initially gage where they're at with their tuhituhi.

We love innovation here at Te Puna Reo Māori! Our latest FREE RESOURCE is all about Te Tiriti o Waitangi. We look at the journey from He Hakap**anga to Te Tiriti o Waitangi through six whakataukī. This is part of our TE REO TUATAHI programme for kura across Aotearoa. Te Reo Tuatahi was founded 10 years ago with the foundational aim of bringing high quality te reo Māori learning content to the 96% of tamariki Māori that sit in mainstream schools across Aotearoa New Zealand. When EVERYONE can access great te ao Māori learning resources, then our tamariki Māori are uplifted and honoured as tangata whenua and visibly experience their language and culture being valued and respected. This was only one aspect of te ao Māori which was guaranteed protection under Te Tiriti o Waitangi way back in 1840!

We hope your tamariki and whānau enjoy our koha. This learning unit is great for kaiako, helping their learners to understand the roles of tangata whenua and tangata tiriti as we all navigate the healing process of decolonisation.
