A wee update on the newest part of the gardens. This was the last bit that we converted from lawn in September.. its cranking! The rain we have had has helped 🌧🌧 now I need more sunshine 🌞🌞to ripen all the fruit! Excuse me when I say year I mean season 😆 the year for me revolves around the season rather than the calender.

Topic of the week 💡 MULCH 🍂

Mulch can be anything from lawn clippings, fallen leaves, compost, wood mulch, arborist mulch…. The list goes on!

Any organic matter that’s going to keep your soil cool in summer, suppress weeds and break down to feed the soil.

If using grass clippings, do a very thin layer and if possible mix with fallen leaves or another brown component as it is very nitrogen rich and a thick layer can become aqua-phobic. This means water won’t pe*****te your soil properly which can lead to dehydrated and unhappy plants 🌱
