Kai is one of the ways we nourish at kindy 🧡 Every Tuesday it's 'soup day' where tamariki help chop vegetables, help set the table, then everyone sits down to eat together. Nourishment isn’t only food. It’s our warm, homely space, and the relationships between kaiako, tamariki and whānau.

Choosing a kindergarten or early childhood education space is one of the first big decisions a whānau makes together. At Four Seasons, we hold that trust with the reverence it deserves. The early years matter not because they prepare tamariki for school, but because they are complete and meaningful in themselves. Rich, slow, nurtured, and real. We would love to welcome your whānau with spaces becoming available in early 2027. Come and meet us, share a cuppa, and get a feel for us, our values, and our space, are we the right fit for you, your whānau and your child? Send us a PM to organise a visit.

Everyday at Four Seasons stories are read, and told by kaiako. They hold magic, and in turn, to watch tamariki imitate, and to tell stories with the same care, love, and reverence is something to be treasured. We wonder if your tamariki tell stories the 'kindy' way at home? "It's storytime, it's storytime, and everybody is quiet...."

The things they bring home from kindy will make you laugh, melt your heart, and occasionally make you wonder where on earth they picked that up. All of it is learning. All of it is yours to shape, and we are right here alongside you. If your tamaiti is coming home with something you'd like support with, come and talk with us.

Your tamariki will bring things home from kindy. That's the point. What you do with it is one of the quiet superpowers of being their parent.

Holding space for emotional experiences is a privilege we hold dearly each day. Watching children in play, moving with emotion is such an important part of our work.

“Play has become an endangered activity…”
Dr. Gordon Neufeld

At Four Seasons Kindergarten, we protect play. It is deeply revered and child led.

Our role as kaiako is to create the conditions where tamariki can find the space for true play to unfold.

A pause, a breath, a moment (or many consecutive moments) is what we do to honour the experiences and feelings of tamariki when they are having big emotions. And if our own nervous system is in overwhelm, another kaiako will step in to hold the space whilst we re-set and come back into a space where are a solid foundation for a child to co-regulate with us. It takes a team to be able to do this, and by golly we are blessed with a beautiful team of kaiako who all work from this kaupapa.

Pausing before reacting to a child’s big feelings isn’t easy — but it’s powerful.

When we take a breath, we create space to respond with connection instead of reacting from our own triggers.

This is how we teach children that emotions are safe — theirs and ours.

If you want support learning how to pause when you're triggered, watch the Pause Is Power replay webinar — a powerful 35-minute free training.

Sitting in presence with tamariki during our kindy day is such a gift. Modeling what it is to be a ‘human being’ ❤️ as opposed to a ‘human doing’ 🏃‍♀️ Giving time and space to just be gentle, quiet, in peace with our world. These moments resonate long after the kindergarten years are done. In a world that seems to celebrate busyness (like what we did there? 😜) join us in celebrating connection in the peace of doing absolutely nothing.
