Tirohanga School

On Thursday the 19th of March, our school (Tirohanga School) went to Lakes Ranch Rotorua. Most of us came by bus, but some people came with their parents. Some of the activities included slug gun shooting, kayaking, a mud run and raft building. My personal favorite being shooting the slug guns.

Thank you to Lakes Ranch for hosting us and the wonderful activities provided for our tamariki. Thank you to our AMAZING parent helpers, we couldn't have done it without you. We really appreciate you getting in amongst the mud run and kayaking. Our tamariki had a blast learning new skills, working together as a team and most importantly, having fun!

For Kaitikakitanga time this week, we have been focusing on planting more natives, looking after our existing ones and organizing our shade house so that we are able to grow more seedlings. With a focus on 'synergy', tamariki have worked together in teams to get the mahi done with a smile. The tamariki naturally bring out the element of play during tasks like this, it's awesome seeing them get creative and use their imagination - We've had landscape workers, shop keepers, and building a snake out of pots to name a few.

A cracker of a day for the annual Junior Pinelands Swimming Sports. It was a privilege to host Mangakino School, Whakamaru School and Marotiri School where the juniors were able to demonstrate their fantastic water skills. We're proud of everyone giving it a go amid the chilly waters after this week's temperatures, you are all superstars!

SO incredibly proud of our senior tamariki for participating in the Pinelands Swimming Sports. We couldn't be more proud of the effort they put in. Thank you to Mangakino School for hosting us. Thank you also to Whakamaru School and Marotiri School for the awesome day. Tomorrow we host the junior Pinelands Swimming!

Our hot cross bun fundraiser forms are due in this Friday 6th March. Please share with your friends and whanau. $6 for 6 buns, with 3 flavours of Traditional, Chocolate or Cranberry. This year our fundraising efforts are going towards purchasing a school van to be able to get our tamariki out in our local environment. Feel free to message your orders in through messenger or the Skool Loop app if that's easier.

We had an incredible day today for our small schools swimming competition with Rangitaiki school and Mihi School We are so incredibly proud of all the tamariki having a go, enjoying themselves and giving it their all!

Swimming lessons have been in full swing with our SwimWell teachers over the last fortnight, teaching our tamariki necessary life skills. We will continue swimming lessons next week, so please bring swimming togs each day. Pinelands swimming is being held at the beginning of March, more information will be sent home next week 😊🏊

Happy New Year Everyone!

We look forward to seeing all our Tamariki and their Whanau back at school on Tuesday 27th January. The bus will be running as normal. Our office will be open this Thursday 22nd and Friday 23rd from 11am-12pm.
