๐ฟ Learning Through Everyday Experiences ๐ฟ
Last week, the Poppies children explored unwrapping blocks that had been covered in foil. Such a simple activity, but one that offered so many opportunities for learning!
At afternoon tea, Heila served boiled eggs, and each child was given an egg to peel themselves. ๐ฅ
These everyday experiences help children develop mindfulness, concentration, patience and fine-motor skills, while also encouraging independence and confidence.
Sometimes the simplest activities provide the richest learning. They donโt need to be expensive or complicated, peeling an egg is a practical life skill, and the children are learning while having fun.
There are so many other ways we can incorporate these skills into everyday experiences too:
๐ Spreading butter or toppings on toast
๐ฅ Peeling a carrot
๐ง Grating cheese
๐ Cutting soft fruit
๐ฅ Helping prepare simple foods
Itโs all about giving children the opportunity to have a go, do things for themselves and learn through meaningful, hands-on experiences. ๐
