Kia ora e te whānau,

Cross country is on Tuesday. This is a dog free zone e te whānau as some of our tamariki are not fans. We talk about tolerable stress in our mahi. We want to remind you that tolerable stress is key to growing great citizens who contribute positively to their communities in Aotearoa, New Zealand. Tolerable stress is where resilience grows. Stress is often painted in a negative light when it is actually a key aspect to life. Tolerable stress is great and something we need to put our tamariki and ourselves under so we can become more resilient. Cross country is a fine example of ‘tolerable stress’. We talk to the tamariki about how it will hurt but it won’t put them in danger. They will survive and their self belief will develop. Ngā mihi for your support.

Kia ora e te whānau,

As part of NZ Children’s Book Week, we meet in our whānau classes to enjoy reading together.

Tomorrow, we are having a Whānau Whare Competition, competing in an NZ Children’s Book-themed Kahoot! Kahoot is an online quiz where our tamariki can put their NZ children’s book knowledge to the test.

The winning team from each house will then compete against each other to find our overall NZ Children’s Book Week Kahoot champion!

We’re looking forward to lots of fun, teamwork and friendly competition!

A reminder that this Friday we also have our Book-Themed Dress-Up Day! We can’t wait to see everyone dressed as their favourite book characters.

Ngā mihi,
The Bledisloe Team

Our tamariki have been so fortunate to be able to attend some bowls sessions at Bowls Taradale. We cannot thank them enough for being so great with our tamariki and teaching them a few tips and tricks. I hear we may need to collect some autographs now as one day some of them could be quite famous in this sport 😉

Kia ora e te whānau:

Reminders:

Warm clothing: please ensure your child is leaving your house with the necessary clothing for school. For those that aren't dressed properly to be playing outside during morning tea and lunch they may have to spend their playtimes in the office rather than with friends as we don't want tamariki getting cold.

Absence: When you text the school to let us know that your child is away you MUST provide a reason please. These are then logged with the MoE so we can keep track of attendance. If you do not provide a reason it is classed as truant. We also need first and last names of tamariki when you text please as it shortens the time we take to try and track down who you are talking about.

Health: We need to look after ourselves as winter has its last little bite. Oranges are in abundance, sleep routines and rest help keep us well, good hygiene etc. If you have a lot of extra curricular activities on during the weekend and after school we suggest these are the things that are the first to go in order to achieve 'rest'.

Mauri ora.

Kia ora e te whānau,

Winter is coming in for what is hopefully its last bite. To keep illness away please push good hygiene habits at home as these push over into kura. Ensure your tamariki are coming to schools addressed appropriately for the cold.

A mihi to our season hockey coaches who are also teachers who have done the hard yards this season with 13 games on a Saturday - always going above and beyond!

Reminders: Book week is this week. There is a book character dress up on FRIDAY 21st August so make sure you don’t leave your costume till the last minute if you are planning on dressing up.
