WELCOME TO OUR NEW PRINCIPAL
We are delighted to announce that we have appointed Ryan Wenden Abbott as the new Principal of Tapu School.
After an extremely thorough process involving many months of gathering input from our community, staff and students, and then preparing, interviewing and assessing candidates, we are delighted that the Board has selected someone of real calibre to lead our school forward.
We look forward to Ryan bringing his dynamism, extensive knowledge and experience to our school. Ryan comes to us from a family background of teachers. Ryan mentioned having fond memories of visiting the Coromandel as a child. Ryan is an experienced educator and has been teaching and working in a managerial position as Deputy Head of programmes at the New Zealand Centre for Gifted Education.
We were fortunate to have several high calibre applicants, which reflects the excellent reputation of our school. The Board used feedback from our community of staff, learners and parents to set the criteria used for selecting the new Principal and worked closely with the Education Group in making this key appointment. We would like to thank you all for your time and valuable input into this process.
We must also acknowledge the amazing job that Annette Finlay has done over the last few months as our Acting Principal. She has steered the ship through some demanding - and rapidly evolving - times with professionalism, compassion, and wisdom, and we thank her immensely for the way she has led our school. We are very fortunate that she stepped up in this way. We know she will continue to be a great support for our school.
Ryan officially starts as Principal on Monday 22nd of April second week of the school holidays. Once Ryan has been welcomed into the school, he is keen to start getting to know the students and the community.
It's an exciting time for us all at Tapu School.
