We are into our 2nd lesson of Horse riding/feeding/understanding and Ria chose one of the big boys Score to ride on her first day, and Billy-Jay stuck with Esse who mum rode last lesson.
Lessons are great, our instructor Kelly is also amazing and full of knowledge.
So far we have learnt:
A little about their individual breed combinations.
Horse body language
How to safely move around a horse.
The different types of brushes & use when grooming and preparing the hoiho to saddle.
How to safely and comfortably saddle and unsaddle the hoiho (and yes mum has saddled successfully).
How to safely and comfortably (and sometimes work with the hoiho which is not always comfortable) to girdle and remove the girdle after riding.
How to feed and what goes into their feed mixture (nurtrients that they may need).
Whilst riding:
Body language (both rider and hoiho).
Verbal communication (Rider)
Stop, go, steering, verbal communications, light body language and further on to more encouragement with verbal and body language!
Safe to say, we are enjoying our rides and warming up to the horse individually.
