Today at Wonder Kids Lower Hutt, we celebrated all the amazing mums and special people in our tamariki’s lives with a beautiful Mother’s Day Morning Tea 💐💖

We arranged a lovely morning tea for all our wonderful mothers, sisters, aunties, grandmas, and also the dads and grandads who lovingly step into the role of “mum” when mums are away due to work or other commitments. Today was all about saying a huge THANK YOU for everything you do for your children and families, for your endless love, care, support, and for always being there no matter what 💖💗💐

Our tamariki were very busy preparing for this special celebration. They created beautiful Mother’s Day artwork by making their handprints with a heart in the middle and writing the sweet message, “Love you Mum.” ❤️

The tamariki also did an amazing job helping to make our beautiful Mother’s Day backdrop. They worked so hard painting, decorating, and creating a special space where families could stand together and take lovely photos to remember this celebration 📸🥰

Thank you so much to every family member who was able to join us today and celebrate with us. And to those who could not make it due to work or other commitments, we know your hearts and souls were still with your children today, and we thank you so much for all that you do. 💕

We hope you all have a wonderful Mother’s Day on Sunday filled with love, happiness, and special moments with your whānau💐💖💐

Wishing all our amazing families and our lovely teachers a very Happy Mother’s Day 💖❤️🌸💐❤️💖

As we continued celebrating ANZAC Day, our tamariki engaged in more meaningful learning experiences that deepened their understanding of bravery and remembrance.

We made special medals with the children, discussing how people receive medals as recognition for their courage, service, and dedication. Our lovely kaiako Adele then shared her own medals with the children for all the time she was brave.

During mat time, we read the story “My Brave Book”, encouraging the children to reflect on what bravery means to them. Our tamariki confidently shared things they may feel scared of, while also recognising how they can still be brave in those moments. They learnt that “It's ok to be scared because you learn to be brave”.

We also explored how nurses and soldiers looked in the past compared to today. The children were fascinated to learn about how brave soldiers lived in tents, ate tinned food and hard biscuits, and worked tirelessly to protect others. Our kaiako Adele also shared her photos as a nurse and how she used to dress as a nurse.

To extend this learning, we engaged in a creative activity where the children dressed paper cut-outs of nurses and soldiers. They carefully selected and matched outfits, showing great interest and imagination as they brought their figures to life.

To conclude our ANZAC Day celebrations, we gathered together for a special mat time. We expressed our gratitude for all the brave soldiers and everyday heroes who continue to keep us safe. We sang the national anthem together and created a peaceful tribute space with tea light candles, where the children respectfully placed the poppy flowers they had made to honour and remember those who have served🌺🌺🌺

Last week and this week, our tamariki at Wonder Kids observed and celebrated ANZAC Day with meaningful learning experiences. During mat time, we talked about why we celebrate ANZAC Day and took time to remember not only the soldiers, but also the everyday heroes in our community, police, ambulance staff, doctors, nurses, and fire services, who work hard to keep us safe and protected.

The children expressed their learning through creative activities, making beautiful poppy flowers and proudly wearing them on their shirts and tops. They also created large poppies using paper plates, painting them in red and black, and enjoyed colouring in poppy flower pictures.

It has been a special time of reflection, creativity, and appreciation 🌺 We will continue this learning with more activities and thoughtful setups throughout the week🌺🌺🌺🌺🌺

Our tamariki at Wonder Kids have been busy little explorers! Over the past weeks they have been learning all about bugs and insects. They got creative making their very own ladybugs and enjoyed painting beautiful ladybug artworks.

Our lovely kaiako Adele also set up a fun hands-on activity where the children pretended to search for bugs and insects, sparking lots of curiosity and excitement. Along the way, the children discovered that most insects have six legs and antennae, which they use to feel, smell, and sometimes even taste. What a wonderful learning adventure it has been 🐞

🎄✨ Christmas Celebrations at Wonder Kids ✨🎄
We had a wonderful time celebrating Christmas at Wonder Kids on the 12th of December with our tamariki, kaiako, and whānau all dressed in christmas colours. The day was filled with joy as we enjoyed face painting done by our lovely kaiko Adele, we sang Christmas carols together for our mat time such as “we wish a Merry Christmas”, “Jingle Bells”, “Pop Bang Crack” and “Red Red Coat”. Then we had a very special visit from Santa who distributed gifts to all our tamariki 🎅🎁

We had shared kai and enjoyed ice creams together, making it a lovely time for everyone. Throughout this month of December, tamariki were engaged in many Christmas activities. Together, we put up and decorated our Christmas tree, made a large Christmas wreath using the handprints of all children and teachers, and created Christmas hats using red and green paper, glitter, and pompoms. Our tamariki also enjoyed decorating the cupcakes which were made by our lovely kaiako Jordyn 🧁💚 and they also decorated printed Christmas trees with glitter and proudly made their individual Christmas baubles with their photos inside, which now hang beautifully on our Christmas tree 🎄We also made red and green coloured playdough and nga tamariki made the Christmas tree using the 2 coloured playdough🎄

A huge thank you to all our parents and families for joining us, celebrating with us, and making our Christmas party so special and memorable. We feel so grateful to share these moments with our wonderful Wonder Kids community🎄✨

Merry Christmas Everyone 🎅🎄✨️
