During this Muka wānanga, participants will refine traditional techniques under the guidance of kai raranga Tracey Walker (Whatu Muka).
Participants will learn specialised techniques for harvesting, preparing and processing muka, building the skills and confidence to begin weaving a high-quality kete to continue at home.
Participants are to bring any prepared muka, tools and huruhuru they have.

✨ A little throwback to our Matariki mā Puanga Holiday Programme!

It's hard to believe this was six weeks ago! We had 20 tamariki join us for a few days of mahi, fun, and connection, with a strong focus on Matariki mā Puanga.

The tamariki got stuck into carpentry, raranga, mahi toi, and movies, while also having plenty of time to hang out and make new friendships with tamariki from different schools across the rohe.

It was awesome seeing everyone come together, try new things, and enjoy themselves.

This five-week raranga programme provides participants with foundational knowledge including tiknga, harvesting practices, karakia, preparation techniques, and beginner weaving projects.
Participants will learn to create simple woven taonga while developing an understanding of cultural significance of harakeke and raranga within te ao Māori.
