💛 Supporting Emma and Her Family 💛

As a childcare community, we believe in supporting one another not only within our centre, but also through the difficult times that life can bring.

One of our much loved team members is currently facing an incredibly challenging and heartbreaking time as her 14-year-old daughter, Emma, goes through a very difficult journey.

A Givealittle page has been created to support Emma and her family during this time. We would love to help share their story and reach as many kind and caring people as possible.

If you are in a position to contribute, every donation, no matter how big or small, can make a difference. If donating isn’t possible, simply sharing the page can also help enormously. 💛

Please see the Givealittle page here:

From all of us at our centre, we are sending Emma and her family our love, strength and support during this incredibly difficult time. 💕

Thank you to our wonderful families and community for always showing such kindness and compassion. It truly means so much. 🌷

💛 DAFFODIL DAY DUMP! 💛

We're bringing back one of our favourite fundraisers, and after raising over $300 in 2024, we're hoping to go even bigger this year! 🌼

Cancer affects so many people, whether it's someone we love, a friend, or a member of our community, Daffodil Day is a chance to come together, remember those affected, and support the incredible work of the Cancer Society. Every dollar raised helps support the vital work of the Cancer Society, providing care, support, and hope to those impacted by cancer.

Here's how to vote:
💛 Donate $5.
💛 Choose a token with the face of the kaiako you'd like to see slimed (you can only vote for the kaiako featured on the poster).
💛 Pop your token into the jar.
💛 The kaiako with the most votes will be dumped with yellow slime!

Simply give your $5 to Iyarna or another kaiako, collect your voting token, and cast your vote!

Have some fun, support a great cause, and help us beat last year's total of $300+. Every vote makes a difference, and together we can help bring hope to those affected by cancer. Will Olivia take the slime dump again? Or will another kaiako take this years hit!

💛 Thank you for your support and may the best (or slimiest!) kaiako win! 🌼

🏉 Finals Bound – Let’s Go Local! 🏉
A massive congratulations to our local rugby teams who have made it to the CMK Club Finals Day this Saturday at Stadium Taranaki!

🔴⚪⚫ Stratford Eltham Rugby – Premier Women
🟡⚫ Toko Rugby – Division 2

Today our tamariki and kaiako proudly showed their support by dressing up in their club colours for Club Colours Day at SCCC! ❤️🤍🖤 for Stratford Eltham Rugby & Sports Club and 💛🖤 for Toko RFC.

We’re so proud to see so many familiar faces out there—Dads, Mums, Brothers, Sisters, Uncles, Aunties, Whānau, and Friends—representing our community with heart, passion, and pride on the field. Every one of you is an inspiration to our young aspiring players and a fantastic example of what community sport is all about.

Good luck to both teams this weekend. We'll be cheering from the sidelines in red, black & white, and yellow & black! 💪🏽🏆

❤️🖤🤍 Go Stratford Eltham!
💛🖤 Go Toko!

Today we were incredibly lucky to go to Lake Rotokare and learn about pest control, native birds, lizards and be one with nature 🦎🦆🐀🌲.
Nga tamariki spent time in the classroom listening to native birds, matching pest foot prints, finding the birds around the classroom and had the opportunity to touch an 85 year old taxidermy kiwi.
We then went around the education walk with mirrors and a paint pallet to find birds in the canopy and match the colors to nature.
After this we walked to the platoon and saw the geese sleeping in the sun 🌞.
This was a beautiful educational experience for the tamariki.
Shout out to Cassie who runs the education program - she is incredible

A heartfelt ngā mihi nui to everyone who joined us for our Puanga/Matariki celebration. What a beautiful evening it was! Our whare was filled with manaakitanga, whanaungatanga, laughter, shared kai, kōrero, and connection. It was truly special to see our tamariki, whānau, kaiako, and community coming together to celebrate this meaningful time of year. We hope everyone who attended felt the warmth and joy of the evening as much as we did.
A very special thank you to Makere for returning to our centre and sharing your incredible flax weaving knowledge and skills with our tamariki and whānau. It was a privilege to have you with us, sharing your mātauranga and creating opportunities for our tamariki to learn, connect, and create.
Aroha, thank you for blessing us with your delicious fry bread, and to all our amazing kaiako, volunteers, whānau, and helpers who worked tirelessly behind the scenes, your aroha and mahi made the evening possible. A special thank you to Lina and Barry Kowaleski for your help preparing and serving the kai. We are so grateful for the time, energy, and kindness you shared with us.
Puanga is a special whetū that many iwi of Taranaki look to as it rises in the winter sky, signalling the beginning of the Māori New Year. It is a time of whakamahara - reflecting on the year that has passed and remembering those who are no longer with us; a time of whakanui - celebrating the present and the people around us; and a time of manako - looking forward to the future with hope and possibility.
Most importantly, Puanga/Matariki reminds us of the importance of whanaungatanga - coming together as a collective, sharing kai, stories, experiences, and strengthening the relationships that connect us. These moments of togetherness help build the strong and loving community we are so proud to be part of.
Thank you once again to everyone who helped make our celebration such a special and memorable occasion. We feel incredibly lucky to have such an amazing whānau who continue to share their time, knowledge, and aroha with our tamariki and our centre.
We look forward to celebrating together again next year.
Ngā mihi nui ki a koutou katoa 🌟
