Our lockdown has now been lifted. We are back to our normal day. All children are happy to be playing again.

Koru Kindergarten has gone into lockdown. We will continue to provide updates on storypark as often as possible. Please do not come to Koru Kindergarten or phone the kindy line as you will not be attended to and this may cause disruption to the management of this incident and could potentially place yourselves and/or our staff and children at risk. On Wednesday we came together to celebrate Puanga – a special time to connect, reflect, and celebrate alongside our wonderful kindergarten whānau. ✨

A huge thank you to everyone who joined us this morning. It was so lovely to see tamariki, whānau, and kaiako sharing laughter, flying kites, making memories, and enjoying time together.

We were spoilt with beautiful kai, including delicious homemade soup from our amazing kitchen, and a heartfelt thank you to the wonderful mums from TPU for baking the most delicious scones. Your generosity helped make the morning extra special.

As we celebrate the rising of Puanga, we're reminded of the importance of coming together, reflecting on those who have gone before us, celebrating the present, and looking ahead with hope for the future.

Ngā mihi to everyone who helped make our Puanga celebration such a meaningful and joyful occasion. 💙🪁⭐

🦷✨ We had some very special visitors yesterday!

A big thank you to Britt and Vanessa from Tui Ora, who spent time with our tamariki learning all about healthy teeth and happy smiles. The children had lots of fun discovering why it's important to brush, how to care for their teeth, and what helps keep their mouths healthy.

Did you know? Brushing your teeth for 2 minutes is about the same as singing 🎶 Happy Birthday 🎶 four times! Why not give it a try at home?

🎉🎉Today is the day🎉🎉
Kindergarten Taranaki is now officially Whānau Manaaki Kindergartens!

These are exciting times ahead for our kindergartens, and for early childhood education in Taranaki.

The joining of our two associations will ensure the continuation and advocacy of high quality kindergarten education for tamariki in our region.

Parents and whānau, tamariki and staff in Taranaki will benefit from the support and resources provided by Whānau Manaaki – a large and long established kindergarten association.

You will notice that our kindergartens signs have changed to have the Whānau Manaaki branding on them, but we want to reassure you that your tamariki will continue to have the same caring Kaiako each day at kindergarten, and benefit from the same high-quality teaching and learning practises that you are used to.

We have 1 month to go until Kindergarten Taranaki officially joins Whānau Manaaki Kindergartens on 2 March. The joining of our two associations will ensure the continuation of high quality kindergarten education for tamariki in Taranaki.

These are exciting times ahead for our kindergartens, and for early childhood education in Taranaki.

🟣 Who is Whānau Manaaki?
Whānau Manaaki are a community-focused kindergarten association that works for whānau, not for profit. All resources go directly into high-quality early childhood education for tamariki. Both Whānau Manaaki and Kindergarten Taranaki are members of Kindergartens Aotearoa - a collective of kindergarten organisations working together to build a strong, enduring future for kindergartens and communities in Aotearoa.

We are seeking a very special person to work alongside our highly motivated and skilled teachers at Koru Kindergarten, Stratford. The position has responsibility for preparing meals for children from 3 months to school age.

If you would like to support your local community and want working hours that are well remunerated with the ‘Living Wage’ then we look forward to receiving your application.

The successful applicant will be skilled in the preparation of meals for growing children with menus and supplies kindly provided by ‘KidsCan’ and, ideally, have a Food Handling Certificate.

This position is for 27.5 hours per week (5.5 hours per day from 8.45 am to 2.45 pm), five days per week. Please note that the Kindergarten is open for instruction for approximately 47 weeks per year including school term breaks.

Well that's it. 12 years done and dusted at the most amazing kindergarten Koru Kindergarten. It has been an honour to be a part of this kindergarten as a full time teacher, an Assistant Head Teacher, and a parent. These have been the best years of my professional life. A heartfelt thanks goes to all the amazing teachers, staff, whānau and beautiful tamariki I have worked with along the way, you all hold a significant place in my heart. Le-arna Russ you get the biggest thanks for the leader you have shaped me into. You are an amazing and fierce leader, dedicated teacher and a beautiful friend, I am going to miss you. On to my next adventure. Head Teacher at Stratford Central Kindergarten. I can't wait 🥰
