Great write up on choosing thread types.
They sell gret patterns as we'll.

Choosing the right thread for your garment can seem tricky at first as when you go into your fabric store there is always so many to choose from! For sewing most garments on a machine a good quality polyester thread such as Gutermann is generally a safe choice. Polyester thread has some 'give' so it is especially suited to stretch and knit fabrics. Some people prefer to use a 100% cotton thread when using cotton fabric, but generally polyester thread is fine too. Be aware that 100% cotton breaks more easily than polyester. Silk thread is lovely, more durable than cotton and is particularly good for very delicate fabrics or for hand sewing. If you are likely to want to dye your garment at any point you will need to use a natural thread or it will stay its original colour after the garment is dyed. Regardless of what thread type you choose, remember you get what you pay for, buying a quality thread is definitely worthwhile.

Zero waste....a conscious choice.
Not quite textiles but those who know me I'm all for reducing waste in our lives
and creating better solutions.

The lovely Sarah from Hibiscus Coast Zero Waste has put together a great display highlighting the amount of plastic waste a typical family of four produces over one week. Quite an eye opener! And she's added some awesome simple swap ideas 👏

Come and support our Plastic Free July Aotearoa campaign by making a simple pledge to reduce your plastic waste. You'll be rewarded with an awesome goodie bag at the end of July 👍 Made Simple
