This week we had a dress-up Wednesday; the tamariki loved this and all took turns to show off their costumes. Although this week was a short week, it was a busy one! There were lots of different activities, including melting ice hands, potion making with coloured water, and always a favourite, the sandpit and water pipes.

We would like to give a special shout-out to Andrew Pillans from Main Freight for donating 20 bucket hats. These will be used all summer long. As these are slightly bigger, we are on the lookout for some child-sized hats; if anyone is wanting to donate, we would be very appreciative. These ones will then be allocated to the parents while on session, but until then they’re available every session for anyone to protect us all from the sun. So, a very big thank you!

Next week is a short week as the centre will be closed on Monday due to the public holiday.

Wednesday’s session will be at Marlborough Playcentre Hapori Outdoor Play Session and Education Celebration.

🌼Term 4 🌼

What a busy but exciting start to Term 4!
Last week we welcomed everyone back to Playcentre. We also had our planning meeting, where we decided on our focus for the term and planned some exciting activities and excursions.

We have had a slight change to our session and have added a 10:30am Hui. This is a chance for all of us to come together to read a book, dance or share with the group.

This term's focus is on Springcreek Playcentre and the amazing community we have created, and everyone who attends to make it what it is today.

Kia Ora Spring Creek Playcentre Whānau, we hope you are all enjoying the school holidays.

This terms main focus for our centre has been about our community. Our aim is to explore the different activities and opportunities for our tamariki within our region and to also reconnect and strengthen bonds with existing community organisations.
During term 3 were very fortunate to experience the following;

🚜 a visit from a tractor - Thank you Duke MacDonald!

🌱 Sandy from Bunnings Warehouse Blenheim came and filled our vegetable gardens and taught us about growing our food. Thank you to Sandy & Bunnings for the generous garden donations!

⭐️ a visit from Renwick Playcentre members. Thank you for coming!

🧇 we walked down to Spring Creek Four Square to buy ingredients to make waffles!

🏫 we went to visit Spring Creek School and see and feed the pet pigs. Thank you for having us!

🪺 we went to Bunnings and got to make bird feeders. Thank you again Sandy!

🥥 we also had a Pacific culture session. Where we made Panipopo, tie-dye wraps and learned how to make some Pacific style dress ups for our dolls. Thank you so much Karen for sharing your skill and knowledge with us!

Thank you once again to all of our community members who were part of our term 3 activities. We are very grateful to be surrounded by such wonderful people & businesses.

Our term 4 is already looking very busy, we have some more exciting things planned ahead, so watch this space.
We look forward to seeing you all again on the first day of term 4 - Monday October 6th.

Ngā mihi me te aroha nui mō te Rā o Pāpā We want to wish all the dad's, fathers, step dad's, grandads the best day today. Happy father’s day!

What a busy week we had last week. Monday we came together to celebrate one of our tamariki’s birthdays with a wee celebration, we love coming together to share and celebrate these milestones and events in our beautiful community!
Both Monday and Wednesday We couldn’t resist being outside in the beautiful weather where we had lots going on, chalk drawing, sandcastle building, bubbles and music, and so much more. We love all the friendships, opportunities and learning experiences Playcentre has to offer!

We also created some wee paintings/gifts to give to our dad, how great did they turn out 😊

What an EPIC week at Springcreek Playcentre!
On Monday, we went on an adventure to Spring Creek School, where we got to see Ferg the pig and meet Fergal the cockatiel! 🐖🐦 The tamariki absolutely loved the visit, exploring the school, mingling with the big kids, and soaking up all the excitement!

And the fun didn't stop there! On Wednesday, we headed to Bunnings Warehouse Blenheim, where the incredible Sandy had set up an unforgettable experience! The kids got to unleash their creativity and build their very own bird feeders - what a fantastic hands-on activity! 🌟

We're so grateful for these amazing experiences and the incredible people who make them happen!

This week at Spring Creek Playcentre, the tamariki unleashed their creativity by transforming recycled cardboard boxes into their very own race cars.
They expressed themselves through vibrant paintings and decorations.

On Wednesday, the tamariki were treated to a visit from the Playcentre nail Salon, where they enjoyed some well-deserved pampering. They eagerly selected colours and patience while taking turns.

Next week, on Monday, we will embark on an exciting adventure to Spring Creek School where we will visit Fergie the pig and friends. Then return back to playcentre for lunch.

On Wednesday, we will venture out on an excursion to Bunnings Warehouse Blenheim. The centre will be closed on this day.

This week, Springcreek Playcentre walked to our local Four Square Spring Creek learning valuable lessons about road safety and sparking a sense of confidence. With a shopping list in hand, we made informed choices and worked together as a team to purchase ingredients for making waffles. We even got treated to some marshmellows while instore and timed it perfectly to see the steam train go past. When we got back to centre we all gathered round to help make some blue berry waffles for our morning tea.

We were fortunate to have Renwick Playcentre visit our centre on Monday. We are so lucky that we are able to connect with other Local centres. As each centre is so different it is a great way to connect and discuss how each centre is going and ways we can support each other.

We're thrilled to welcome our new Kaimahi on Monday with a shared Kai, marking an exciting new chapter for our playcentre. By embracing change, we're freeing up more time to focus on what matters most - our tamariki.

This week at Spring Creek Playcentre has been a game-changer, thanks to Sandy from Bunnings Warehouse Blenheim who shared her expertise to revamp our garden.

Her valuable input has not only enhanced our outdoor space but also created a unique opportunity for our tamariki to learn about the rewards of growing their own kai. As they watch our new additions of strawberries, broccoli, cauliflower, beetroot, and cabbage flourish, we will be teaching them essential life skills.

We are also eagerly anticipating our upcoming excursion to Bunnings Blenheim on 27th August.

To kick-start the week, we are thrilled to welcome a special visitor from Renwick Playcentre on Monday.

We also are looking forward to our planning afternoon.

This week we were lucky enough to have a visit from a tractor, an experience that ignited our curiosity and sense of adventure! What made it an even more special day was that it also one of our tamariki’s birthday. After exploring the tractor up close, capturing memories through photos, and learning valuable lessons, we ended the session with cake, a sweet reminder of the joys of discovery and community. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Duke for making this unforgettable experience possible for us.
