Te Kura O Makarika-Centenary

Kia ora e te whanau,
After careful consideration, the Makarika Centenary Committee has agreed to continue with a simplified one-day celebration format for our upcoming centenary gathering on Monday 10 August 2026, marking the 101st anniversary of the kura.

The day will include pohiri, formalities, hangi, cake cutting, whakawhanaungatanga, and a valley bus tour. Accommodation will also be available at Rongohaere Marae on Sunday night for those travelling from out of town.

As part of these changes, formal registrations are no longer required.

We understand that holding the centenary on a Monday may require some planning around work, travel, and whanau commitments, so we wanted to provide plenty of notice for those hoping to attend.

More details and the updated programme will be shared soon.
