A great weekend for our netball teams with three wins from three games!
Our Juniors had a big win on Friday night, with everyone getting plenty of court time and contributing to a strong team effort.
The Seniors were a little slow to get going but lifted the intensity as the game went on. There were some great passages of play, and the team did a fantastic job creating turnovers and converting them into goals at the other end.
On Saturday, our Premier 1 team took on Kahukura Red and came away with a convincing 67–32 win.
Well done girls! 👏

The CACTUS girls are into their final two weeks of the programme, with just five sessions to go before taking on their Longest Day challenge on Friday 26 June.
Over the past couple of weeks, they've been working on communication and teamwork through the Gear Challenge, building resilience at the Aquatic Centre, and challenging themselves on the long runs, where perseverance and grit have been the focus.
It's been great to see the progress they've made and the way they continue to encourage and support each other. Not long to go now, keep pushing, girls!

📱 Phones Away All Day – A Reminder
As a reminder to our students and whānau, all cellphones must be turned off and stored in school bags throughout the school day. This helps create a focused learning environment, reduces distractions, and supports student wellbeing.
If a student needs to contact home during the day, they can do so through the Front Office. Please also take a moment to familiarise yourself with the school's cellphone procedures and expectations.
Thank you to our students and whānau for your ongoing support in helping us maintain a positive learning environment for all.

Tērā Te Auahi ka patua I Tarawera, kai raro iti iho
Our students recently had the privilege of attending Tērā Te Auahi, an extraordinary production by Te Whare Tapere o Te Arawa. It was a powerful and captivating experience that showcased the creativity of a narrative woven seamlessly with contemporary dance, kapa haka, and compelling storytelling.
Through movement, music, and performance, Tērā Te Auahi brought history to life, encouraging reflection on the power of nature, the fragility of human life, and the lasting legacy of this pivotal event. What made the experience even more special for our students was seeing so many familiar faces on stage. Many of the female performers were past and present students of Te Kura o Rautāwhiri, alongside Whaea Makea, a proud former student and current staff member, whose involvement highlights the strong connections between our kura and the wider performing arts community.
A special acknowledgment must also go to Whaea Sophie, the show's producer, whose vision, dedication, and countless hours of hard work brought this remarkable production to life. Her commitment, alongside the efforts of an incredibly talented crew, created an unforgettable experience for all who attended.
Tērā Te Auahi was more than a performance; it was a celebration of history, culture, storytelling, and the strength of our people. We feel incredibly fortunate to have witnessed such a meaningful and inspiring production.

Year 10 Scholarship Programme Wellington Trip
Recently, our Year 10 Scholarship students travelled to Wellington as part of the Scholarship Programme, building on the learning they have been involved in over the past 18 months.
During their visit, students had the opportunity to explore Parliament and the Beehive, visit Te Papa Museum, and experience a range of other educational and cultural attractions along the journey, making valuable connections between their learning, leadership experiences, and New Zealand's history and government.
The girls were absolutely outstanding throughout the trip, representing our kura with pride, maturity, and enthusiasm. They embraced every opportunity, asked thoughtful questions, and were wonderful ambassadors for our school.
A huge thank you to Sandra Hemopo and Carolyn Katu for supporting and accompanying the students on this memorable experience.

Congratulations to our wonderful choir, Voci Vivaci, on their performance at the Secondary Schools Choral Festival, The Big Sing, held in Tauranga yesterday.
Under the musical direction of Laura Falconer, the choir performed three contrasting works: O Love by Elaine Hagenberg, Changing the Clocks by Graham Parsons, and The Mad Hatter by Frank Wildhorn and Jack Murphy.
These pieces showcased the choir’s impressive vocal ability and versatility, showing the dedication and hard work of both the singers and their director. They performed with real joy on stage.
Congratulations to everyone involved. Special thanks to Miss Falconer for all her hours of mahi, our talented instrumentalist, Seamus Baker, and Evelyn Falconer for her continued generous contribution to music at our kura.

Our Year 10 Ngā Toi students had an amazing opportunity to visit the New Zealand Māori Arts and Crafts Institute at Te Puia this week.
Students spent time observing traditional carving practices, learning about the significance of whakairo, and seeing first-hand the incredible skill and dedication involved in this art form. The visit provided inspiration for their own creative work and helped deepen their understanding of Māori visual culture and storytelling.
A huge thank you to the team at Te Puia for sharing their knowledge and welcoming our students into this special learning environment.
