As we celebrated children's day on Sunday 1st March, Tui room nga kaiako asked the tamariki ma what was their favorite thing about being a child in Aotearoa/N.Z. Throughout the week tamariki ma gave us
some real great answers like making gingerbread men, eating cookies, being the best brother, going to the beach/pools, eating. Shopping with my parents and of course being with my friends. We made children day wands, had a bike day, painting and water play outside.

Last week in the Kiwi Room we celebrated Valentine’s Day by making special little cards for our loving parents and whānau who help our tamariki grow and feel supported every day. The children enjoyed exploring colours, textures, and sharing their creativity with lots of smiles.
This week we are learning about Chinese New Year. The tamariki we are busy painting and we are creating beautiful lanterns using children’s artwork. It has been wonderful to see their curiosity, creativity, and excitement as they take part in these cultural experiences together. 🏮

The Tui room tamariki ma were 'growing' in friendship and fun this week! They participated in activities that nurtured sharing, turn-taking, cooperation, and tuakana-teina learning. And, they 'harvested' new friendships along the way!

Great start to February in the Kiwi Room🇳🇿
We’ve been enjoying our Waitangi Day activities, exploring culture, teamwork, and creativity together. The tamariki also had so much fun in the sandpit digging, building, and learning through play.
A wonderful beginning to a busy and exciting month ahead😊.

Although the week was short, Tui room celebrated a couple of birthdays, had bike day in the gym and a 'frocktober'/Halloween dress-up. The biggest challenge tamariki ma faced this week was "adapting to a change in their inside environment. There being a huge interest in constructing "things" our current area is to small. Moving the whaanau play area, it 'created" space for 'manipulative play,.' Of course tamariki ma were happy with their " new" spaces and new building resources.

Through this, they are learning about the value of nature, showing aroha for our environment, and building an understanding of kaitiakitanga our responsibility to care for Papatūānuku (Mother Earth)🪴

We have the privilege of watching our teina kiwi develop their gross motor skills, gaining confidence through climbing ladders, boxes and slides. Risk taking, balance and coordination are important life learning skills.
Our kiwi tuakana are leading the way developing fine motor skills showing our teina how to build and manipulate things using blocks, leggo and sand.
Exposure to art activities using paints, crayons and markers are helping our kiwi tamariki explore literacy, hand eye coordination, colour and pattern recognition and we can't forget taste!
