PHILOSOPHY OF ROTORUA COMMUNITY CRECHE & KINDERGARTEN

VISION:
Our tamariki (children) are encouraged to become curious, competent and confident learners and communicators who have a lifelong love of learning. MISSION:
In partnership with parents, caregivers, whānau and the community we will provide a learning environment that is nurturing, respectful, encouraging, challenging and stimulating and which offers a wide variety of learning opportunities through play. We offer a curriculum that is child initiated and promotes a sense of holistic development for our ākonga (learners) and meets the needs of our children, their whānau and our community. The knowledge, skills and aspirations our tamariki and their whānau bring with them to our centre are woven into the curriculum to form the foundations for learning. We provide an inclusive and equitable environment which values diversity and individual differences, and reflects Te Tiriti o Waitangi (Treaty of Waitangi). We will strive to foster a sense of belonging and wellbeing of our ākonga (learners), their whanau and the staff. We acknowledge and celebrate the cultural diversity of all our tamariki, their whānau and our educators. Teachers are responsive to the individual needs of our tamariki (children) and their whānau. We are inspired by Te Whāriki (New Zealand Early Childhood Curriculum). We foster open communication where whānau feel respected and are encouraged to share their aspirations, joys and concerns for their children with our staff. We are committed to ongoing professional development ensuring our teaching practices and our understanding of childrenā€™s learning and development reflect current theory and practices. Our dedicated teaching team will provide a high quality teaching and learning environment by developing and sustaining supportive staff relationships where individual and collective knowledge is shared and valued.

Vote for us at your local Z! We have been selected to be a recipient of the Z Petrol Station Good in the Hood Campaign at Z Fairy Springs! When you buy your petrol here, you will be given an orange token to pop in one of four boxes and we would love it if you could choose us! We have put our logo and pictures on our box, including flyers with a playdough recipe on the back! Spread the word, we are there for a month and hope to raise some funds for our kitchen upgrade. Today we had a visit from Ruru the Road Safety Owl and Georgie, to talk to us about the importance of travelling in our car seats, wearing seatbelts, safety helmets on bikes and scooters and holding an adult hand to cross the road. It ended with a group hug! We are very proud of how well our tamariki sit and listen to all our visitors, they ask and answer questions and always say thank you for coming!

We are celebrating 15 amazing years service for two of our kaiako! Keri and Anna started within weeks of each other. Anna is a kaiako and our Centre Manager, our dedicated, calm and compassionate anchor who leads with her heart and is always looking for her notebook! Keri is a kaiako who brings joy and creativity with her every single day, our creative force whose laughter rings out across the playground. Our tamariki are at the heart of everything we do and we are fortunate to have such a dedicated team of kaiako, all of whom have been at Creche for many years.
