After nearly 37 years, yesterday was a bitter sweet day for me.
Our preschool, which Janet and I started as Hi Jinks Childcare Centre back in April 1988, which then became HiJinks Montessori Pre school and which finally became Rotorua Montessori Preschool (2022) Limited, yesterday was the end of an era for our ownership of the centre and new beginnings for Sarah Benfell as she added centre owner alongside her existing title of center manager.
I couldn’t have imagined that Montessori Rotorua Preschool, that my late wife Janet had nurtured and loved for so many years, could change hands to a more capable and child centric lady as Sarah Benfell. Sarah’s own children had been pupils of Janet’s as they had started their educational journey many years ago.
I cannot express how proud I am for what Janet and I have achieved over all those years.
The education of children was always paramount to Janet as was the love she showered upon the children of the centre, her own children and the staff she loved.
I know the centre is in very good hands and wish Sarah every success as she embarks upon this exciting new journey.
I would also like to acknowledge and thank all the Parents, Grandparents and all the children that Janet and I were so privileged to have known and served over so many years in what was our very exciting journey. ♥️

Over the past weeks at Montessori we have been learning about Fire Safety. To reward the children for completing the fire safety programme we had a visit from the Rotorua Blue watch Fire Fighters. What a great opportunity for our children to get a real life perspective of what the fire service do in our community.

Thank you to the fire fighters who work so hard to save lives and property. We hope you enjoy your yummy afghans.

Montessori Rotorua Preschool and Montessori at Malfroy Primary School are coming together to grow our Montessori method of learning and teaching through teina and tuakana relationships.
